Police continue investigation of suspicious package

  HIGH POINT – It could be later this week before au*thorities know the con*tents of a suspicious pack*age that was detonated by a bomb squad in High Point on Saturday.
  Police were called to a UPS drop box near 319 N. Main St. by witnesses re*porting a suspicious pack*age hanging out of the top. Initial reports indicated the package was possibly a bomb.
  Police cordoned off the downtown area along Main Street, stretching from Church Avenue to Kivett Drive, and rerouted traffic for about four hours.
  The package was deto*nated by the Greensboro Bomb Squad as a safety p rec a u t i o n .
  High Point police spokeswoman Lt. Angela Tackett said detectives have collected all the con*tents of the package and are examining them.
  She said police should know within a few days what was in the pack*age.
