One hundred thousand dollars worth of drugs are off the streets after a drug bust by Louisville Metro Police.

WHAS11 was the only station there when police arrested two men whom they believe were part of a big drug pipeline.

The same detectives who had worked more than 17 straight hours on that stolen police SUV case were just wrapping up that paperwork about 6 Wednesday morning when they began to stake out the Ramada Inn parking lot at Zorn and River Road.

And look at what they found: 51 pounds of marijuana with a street value of at least $100,000. It's one of the biggest drug busts in recent memory for Metro Police.

The marijuana was apparently on a path that started near the Mexican border with its final stop to our north.

“We had a lead this was going to be dropped off up in Indianapolis,” says Detective Billy Hibbs. “When it got to Louisville, it was the proper time to get a hold of what we got a hold of. Everything went well here, went very effective.”

And we now have the names of the two men arrested -- 25 year old Gerardo Pruneda of Texas and 51 year old Brett Scheele of Minnesota. Both are charged with drug trafficking.
