PORN PROFESSOR GOES BERSERK ON CAMPUS

PORN PROFESSOR GOES BERSERK ON CAMPUS

Allegedly assaults teen girl exercising free speech

Mireille Miller-Young, associate professor at UC, Santa Barbara

A professor of feminist studies who specializes in teaching pornography, queer theory and black film is accused of going berserk at a California pro-life demonstration last week, stealing and destroying an anti-abortion sign and assaulting a teen girl who tried to retrieve it.
Police are now investigating the events involving Mireille Miller-Young, who teaches at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

According to the Santa Barbara Independent which first broke the story, Miller-Young came across the pro-life display sponsored by the Christian pro-life group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust on March 4.
Thirteen members of the group had posted banners and literature which displayed graphic imagery of late-term abortions designed to spark conversations with passing students.

Joan Short, a 21-year-old student at Thomas Aquinas College and a member of the pro-life group, told the paper Miller-Young exchanged heated words, complained about the anti-abortion message, and led the gathering crowd into a chant of “Tear down the sign! Tear down the sign!” before grabbing a banner and walking with it across campus.
As Joan called 9-1-1, her 16-year-old sister, Thrin Short, began recording the events on a smart phone, as the pair followed the professor and two of her students into a building to try to retrieve the banner.

    The Independent report states:

As Miller-Young and the students boarded an elevator, Joan said that Thrin repeatedly blocked the door with her hand and foot and that Miller-Young continually pushed her back. Miller-Young then exited the elevator and tried to yank Thrin away from the door while the students attempted to grab her video camera. “As Thrin tried to get away, the professor’s fingernails left bloody scratches on her arms,” Joan claimed. The struggle ended when Thrin relented, Miller-Young walked away, the students rode up in the elevator, and officers arrived to interview those involved.
“The police did not seem overly concerned about the incident until they saw the video and realized how violent the professor had been,” said Kristina Garza, director of campus outreach for the Survivors ministry, which is planning to release video of the conflict.
“[Miller-Young] was definitely leading the group,” said Joan. “I sincerely doubt any crime would have been committed if she hadn’t been there.”

Thrin Short, 16, displays scratches on her arm allegedly from Mireillle Miller-Young.

Police later found the sign destroyed.

Miller-Young declined comment to local media, but has reportedly retained legal counsel.

“It is a pending matter, so it is not appropriate to comment at this time,” said attorney Catherine Swysen. “We will let the process take its course. I am confident that it will become clear that the events did not unfold as the anti-choice demonstrators say they did.”

Joan Short on her blog noted: “Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I hope it will never happen again, but it did not destroy the work that we did. We were able to handle individuals. What we did not expect to encounter was a professor inciting a mob. Although we were interrupted, we reached a lot of students.”

The incident even captured the attention of top-rated radio host Rush Limbaugh, who commented Wednesday about the professor:

So what do we have here? We have hyphenated name? Check.

    Teaches multicultural nonsense? Check.

Attracted to perverted and worthless areas of academic emphasis? Check.

Instinct to lash out violently at those who disagree with her? Check.

Resorts to violence when she doesn’t get her way? Check.

Logical conclusion: She is a madcap leftist and she has tenure. She is teaching young skulls full of mush, inculcating them with this worthless drivel that their parents are paying through the nose for.

Now, you might say, “Rush this has always gone on.” Not to this degree, folks.

The higher education curriculum has been in the process of being corrupted by militant feminazis for I don’t know how long, but it is continuing to normalize what 10 years ago were extremes. The extremes 10 years ago are the normal today. The extremes 15 ago are the normal. A professor teaching a course in black cultural studies, pornography, and sex work on her faculty Web page?

You don’t think people being educated with this kind of drivel are gonna come out of school confused and thinking they’ve actually learned something? And this is just one professor at one school with one particular area of the curriculum, and it’s happening all over.

University of California-Santa Barbara feminist professor charged in confrontation with pro-life teen

A feminist studies professor at a California state university is facing criminal charges after a videotaped run-in with a teenage pro-life demonstrator in which she snatched an anti-abortion sign and appeared to get physical with the girl.

University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one misdemeanor count each of theft, battery and vandalism in the March 4 incident, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday. The charges came days after 16-year-old Thrin Short and her parents met with prosecutors.

Thrin told authorities what she told FoxNews.com earlier this month: She, her older sister Joan, 21, and some other pro-life activists were holding signs and demonstrating in a free speech zone on the bucolic campus March 4 when Miller-Young, who also teaches courses on pornography, went berserk.

The sisters say they distributed nearly 1,000 informational pamphlets during the event, which was organized by the Riverside-based nonprofit Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. Things took an unexpected turn when, according to Short, Miller-Young approached the demonstrators and a group of students who had gathered.

“Before she grabbed the sign, she was mocking me and talking over me in front of the students, saying that she was twice as old as me and had three degrees, so they should listen to her and not me,” Thrin Short wrote in an email to FoxNews.com. “Then she started the chant with the students about ‘tear down the sign.’ When that died out, she grabbed the sign.”

"It would be cowardly to back off just because of what this one person did."
    - Thrin Short

With a graphic anti-abortion sign in hand, Miller-Young, whose faculty web page says she specializes in black cultural studies and pornography, then allegedly walked through two campus buildings as Short, her sister and two UCSB students followed closely behind. Short captured much of the incident, which she charged was a "deliberate" provocation by Miller-Young, on a cellphone video later posted to YouTube while her sister called campus police. Miller-Young pushed Short at least three times, the student alleges, as she tried to stop an elevator door from closing as the educator stood inside with her sign, Short said.

“I explained how I had been trying to keep the elevator door open with my foot, because I thought the police would be there any second, and that’s when she pushed and grabbed me,” Short’s email continued. “She then got off the elevator and tried to pull me away from the elevator doors so the others could get away with the sign.”

Short said she suffered minor injuries during the melee — scratches on both wrists — and said campus police are now reviewing the video.
Miller-Young did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment. In the report filed by campus police, she claimed she had a "moral right" to act in the manner she did.

Thrin's father, William Short, said he would have expected an academic to engage in thoughtful debate with someone she disagreed with.
"She was free to engage in a rational dialogue with them," Short said after learning the professor had been charged. "Instead, she chose to bully them, steal and destroy their property, and hit and scratch my daughter. After doing so, she said she thought she was setting a good example for her students.

"I think the goal of this prosecution should be to set a good example for her students, one that will not only deter her from repeating this conduct, but will also deter those who approve of her actions from imitating her appalling behavior," he added.

It was unclear if Miller-Young faces any punishment from the school.
“The university is aware of the incident and it is being reviewed by the appropriate offices,” UCSB spokesman George Foulsham wrote to FoxNews.com earlier this month. “It is university policy not to discuss personnel matters.”

Is the porn professor any relation to the gay leftist loon who attempted to storm the Family Research Council HQ a while back?

Sign-grabbing, pro-life teen-assaulting professor and her university sued

    By Thomas Lifson

One of the most blatant incidents of academic bigotry is going to end up in civil court and potentially cost the University of California, Santa Barbara and Assistant Professor Mireille Miller-Young a lot of money. You may recall that the good professor, enraged by the appearance of pro-life demonstrators in a designated free-speech zone on her campus, assaulted a 16-year-old pro-life demonstrator, whose lawful demonstration offended the professor. Professor Miller-Young was convicted of various misdemeanors and sentenced to probation and “anger management.”

Outrageously, a senior administrator at UCSB defended the professor:

When the university finally opened up after several weeks of silence on the matter, the administration did not condemn the unnecessary and spiteful attack by a member of its faculty. Instead, it attacked the “anti-abortion crusaders” and “evangelical types” who came to campus “to provoke us, to taunt us and attempt to turn us against one another.”
Michael D. Young, vice chancellor for student affairs, on Wednesday sent a campus-wide e-mail regarding “Student Free Speech at UCSB.” Young decried those “who peddle hate and intolerance with less-than-noble aims” while failing to mention the professor who attacked a peaceful demonstrator.
In the e-mail, obtained by National Review Online, Young informed students that Miller-Young’s underage victim is simply a member of “the most recent generation of true believers, self-proclaimed prophets, and provocateurs.” Young wrote that students came to him saying they felt “outrage, pain, embarrassment, fear, hurt, and feelings of harassment” because of the demonstrators.
However, the vice chancellor ultimately provided a backhanded defense of the demonstrators’ right to be on campus (within a designated free-speech zone). He wrote that “our Founding Fathers — all white men of privilege, some even slave owners — got it right when designing the First Amendment of the Constitution.”

Now, the assault itself and its defense by the university will be adjudicated in a lawsuit. CNS News reports:

The Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF) filed acivil suit Thursday against the University of California and Professor Mireille Miller-Young seeking “compensation for physical battery, property theft and civil rights violations” following an on-campus altercation in March with pro-life demonstrators.

    (See Shorts v Miller-Young.pdf) (snip)

“This is a mature, supposedly educated woman charged by the University of California to convey knowledge, and instead she conveyed discrimination and intolerance. Not only was she out of line in attacking students, but she literally drew blood from a minor,” said Dana Cody, LLDF’s president and executive director.

A variety of comical defenses for Miller-Young’s actions were offered, including the notion that the “legacy of slavery” was in part responsible for her act.

Miller-Young has never apologized. It will be interesting to see how a California jury reacts. There is video tape of the assault.
