Privacy Not Violated If You Dont Know

Privacy: in today’s world of government it seems that as long as you do not know if they have done something wrong, then they haven’t. Those are the words of wisdom expressed by Republican ‘RINO’ Mike Rogers of Michigan while questioning professor Stephen Vladeck from American University College of Law.

Rogers’ exact words were “You can’t have your privacy violated if you don’t know your privacy is violated, right?” Just great… Privacy not violated if you don’t know…And this guy is the Chair of the House ‘lack of’ Intelligence Committee!

The Fourth Amendment states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” Shall Not Be Violated! It does not say your rights are only considered violated if you know your privacy has been compromised.

The professor’s retort was the old adage “If a tree falls in the forest, it makes a noise whether you’re there to see it or not.”
Rogers reply was cocky with, “Well that’s a new interesting standard in the law.” Nothing new here Mike… The government is still trampling our rights whether we know it or not and just because we don’t know doesn’t make it justified. The hubris of our representatives!

Let’s dig up some dirt on this guy and pass it around throughout everyone’s circles because there is nothing wrong with that as long as he doesn’t know… isn’t that right? What you don’t know can’t hurt you?

A contributor on Washington’s Blog came up with these comparisons to Mike Rogers statement: “How’s that different from arguing that it’s okay for a thief to take $100 from your bank account as long as you don’t notice that the money is missing? Or that it’s okay to rape a woman while she’s passed out so long as she doesn’t realize what happened?”

So just remember… just because you don’t feel like you are having a prostate exam doesn’t mean government isn’t bending you over!
