Progressives: The Real World Versus Neverland

"Not to know what happened before you were born is to remain forever a child," Cicero astutely observed. For many self-described progressives today, however, this seems not to be a drawback. On the contrary, like adolescents -- insisting that they are grown-ups when their parents get in the way of their fun, but then running home for all their basic needs and creature comforts -- such people seem to give no thought to the past and equally little to the future.
Many people like this are said to suffer from a "Peter Pan Syndrome": the inability or unwillingness to grow up. In thought, they seem to lean to the political left. They want the government to take on the role of parent, even if that involves maxing out the country's "credit cards," so that even for a short time, they can live beyond what they earn.
Possibly in a hurry not to concern themselves with "dreary details," they pressed for a huge health-care bill, passed in 2010, that forever changed how we receive − or do not receive − medical care. It seems the details of the bill were too time-consuming and complex for the world of tweets and sound bites for them to pay attention to what it actually contained. When the bill was being debated, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously said, "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."
Many of these children in adult bodies were told, and actually believed, that better health care for everyone, including an unlimited number of illegal immigrants, would be attainable at a low cost, if only the government were to run it. That Medicare and Medicaid, both of which the U.S. government currently runs -- as well as the UK's National Health Service -- are going broke does not appear to have occurred to them. So they persist in their fantasy that government-controlled health care is not an ill but a cure.
Their fantasy is not restricted to the realm of health care. Many of these children in adult bodies believe that many, if not all, major aspects of the economy would be more efficient if the government ran them. This is in spite of the fact that the facilities currently run by the government -- from the Department of Veterans Affairs to the Department of Motor Vehicles -- are inefficient, unhelpful or sometimes even downright hostile -- to the people they are meant to serve.
Many children in adult bodies also seem not to know that Socialism failed in the Soviet Union, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, China, North Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Cuba, and is now failing in Venezuela. Yet, illogically, they appear to believe that they themselves could make it work. The irrational wish is evidently stronger than rational arithmetic.

These victims of arrested emotional development seem to confuse good motives with good results. They want better health care for a greater number of people at a lesser cost; so they fantasize that they can achieve it without denying care to those who are too old, too sick or too expensive to receive it. They kind-heartedly want a "more equal distribution of wealth"; so they fantasize that they can maneuver it without penalizing and discouraging the productive members of society, while rewarding and encouraging the unproductive ones. Yet this is exactly what has happened wherever the redistribution of wealth was tried.
These people, like all of us, want to be liked; so they fantasize that if they treat others kindly, the behavior will be reciprocated. They refer respectfully to the unelected theocratic leader of Iran as "Supreme Leader," even as oppressed Iranian demonstrators are arrested, beaten, tortured or killed.
Although bullies -- from those who terrorize fellow students in the schoolyard, to those who commit terrorist acts against innocent people across the world -- speak the language of hatred and force, children in adult bodies persist in their fantasy that if they and their government would only project appeasement and weakness, regimes such as that in Tehran would lay down their arms and hate-filled hegemonic aims. Hence, presumably, the support among progressives for the Iran nuclear deal that former President Barack Obama pushed through, without regard to its potential cost of a fully nuclear-capable Iran to America and the rest of the world after the deal expires.
These adults still clinging hard to their wishes seem to believe that crime is caused by poverty or other societal ills, and conclude that criminals are victims of society, such as Kathryn Michelle Steinle, who was shot to death in 2015 by illegal immigrant José Inés García Zárate. Garcia Zarate, a five-time deportee and drug offender. While Steinle met a cruel and untimely death, Garcia Zarate, not only was acquitted of murder and manslaughter, but aroused sympathy on the left.
These adults who apparently do not want to grow up call those who disagree with them "fascists" or "Nazis" -- without knowing the history of either -- yet accept as gospel any statements or actions, no matter how questionable, on the part of those who agree with their romanticized positions.
Like Peter Pan, these children wish to live in Neverland – a place that, in the real word, does not exist. Fictional characters, however, have the advantage of enjoying adventures with imaginary dangers. In the real world, unfortunately, people who never grow up may enjoy themselves for a time, but sooner or later the all-too-real dangers they had ignored, like an overstretched credit card, catch up with them. By the time their future is lost to them, it will be too late to wake up or rectify the situation. This means that the adults among us who acknowledge and take on the responsibilities of adulthood must be even more vigilant in exposing fantasies as child-like and preventing these daydreamers from doing even more damage than they already have done.

(Natural News) There are conservatives who have claimed that “liberalism” is a form of mental disorder, and in their defense, liberals everywhere continue to prove them correct.
The Left is relentless in its pursuit to disarm the American citizenry, whether or not such an objective comports with the Constitution’s Second Amendment. As proof that Leftists only value our governing document when it is politically necessary, witness their defense of free speech on college and university campuses, as well as social media, only when it is speech that supports their political, social, and cultural viewpoints.
But be that as it may, it’s not easy in a country that is every bit of ‘light red,’ generally speaking, to do away with the destruction of a fundamental right recognized by our founders: The right to keep and bear arms for self-defense and, if need be, to put an authoritarian government back in its place.
Speaking of authoritarianism, The Mary Sue features a Leftist’s most recent plan to neuter the Second by banning the biggest user group of firearms: Men.
Literally.
It gets even better. The arbiter of this craziness admits she isn’t even from the United States (her after-story bio says she lives in the U.K.):
While some of these men may have had mental health issues, as is often discussed in the aftermath, all of these men exemplify toxic masculinity—just think of how many of them also have a history of domestic violence. Indeed, I believe that most terror attacks are influenced in some way by it, and we are greatly underestimating the threat it still poses.
If you gather from that nonsense that “all men are terrorists or at least terrorists in waiting,” you’re perceptive. That appears to be the general sentiment. (Related: New study angers transgenders for claiming they have at least ONE mental disorder.)
It gets better, though. Not long after that passage, the writer – who is complaining about violence caused by “toxic masculinity” – writes this gem:
In contrast, examples of healthy or positive masculinity are protecting the ones you love, standing up for what’s right, punching Nazis, and Terry Crews.
And who might the ‘Nazis’ be? Of course; anyone who supports POTUS Donald Trump. Then and only then is masculine violence okay.
Masculinity and femininity are both needed for a healthy society

The bottom line is this: The writer isn’t arguing for gun control as much as she’s arguing for “man control” (that’s in quotes because that’s in her story headline).
What is that supposed to mean?
What I need you guys to do, though, is look around you and notice those men who get a little too angry if they lose, who react especially negatively if a woman disagrees with them—maybe you’ve even noticed bruises on their girlfriend or wife. If you feel strong enough, pull them aside and have a talk, man-to-man, about their behavior, especially if you know they have access to guns.
Oh.
Thankfully, she gives us her idea of what ‘model masculinity’ amounts to. Men who are “worried about hurting even a fly” (like her husband). Men who “talk about watching ‘The Great British Bake-Off’” just as giddily as they talk about sports. And, presumably, any man who never gets angry, ever, for any reason, and who shuns firearms as though they were the plague.
Fine. But let’s flesh this out a bit. Anger and masculinity get men through tough moments – such as when they’re in a war zone fighting to protect our country. Bravery, when it’s needed, can be very masculine. When brawn is needed to get a dirty or tough job done, that often takes a lot of masculinity.
Leftist women who seek to essentially ban masculinity – to ban men – from the public square have either not thought through their objectives or are living in some fantasy world most everyone else would find mentally unstable.

Leftists adopted a new strategy to defeat the president. They are calling his mental health into question.
As the possibilities of the Russian collusion investigation fade, a new attack on the president becomes necessary. The latest assault on the president involves an attack on his mental health status. On September 6, a Yale University psychiatrist reported to the media that two members of the Trump administration have been "scared" by the president. Dr. Bandy Lee told Salon and the New York Daily News that two Trump White House officials contacted her last October and informed her that Trump is "unraveling."
She gave them a confusing response: "Not wishing to confuse the role I chose, as an educator of the public, and a potential treatment role, I referred them to the local emergency room without inquiring much further."
Mentioning her potential treatment role is a bit grandiose. It is unlikely that the president would call on her for "treatment." Dr. Lee is the author of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President. She is also the author of an article in which she claims that her book keeps "within the letter of the Goldwater rule." This rule supposedly prohibits psychiatrists from diagnosing public figures without a personal examination and without consent. After explaining the Goldwater rule, she proceeds to diagnose the president. Not surprisingly, her conclusion is that the president is crazy. David Frum in The Atlantic claims that the anonymous article has "enflamed the paranoia of the president."
The Hill's article on the doctor's concerns followed the previous day's New York Times op-ed by anonymous. Anonymous is supposedly a high-ranking Trump administration official. He claimed that the idea of removing Trump from office had been discussed by his top aides. The 25th Amendment contains the procedure for removing a president who his Cabinet believes is incapacitated. Sen. Elizabeth Warren believes that it is time for White House officials to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove the president. In her eyes, he is obviously incapacitated or, as Martin Sheen dubbed him, an "empty-headed moron." Martin Sheen played a psychiatrist in the 1987 movie The Believers.
This leads to the question: who is really crazy? Do you recall all the Tea Party members who were removed from the Senate chamber for disrupting Ruth Bader Ginsburg's confirmation hearings? Neither do I. Perhaps it was just not covered in the press.
The left and the right have totally different ways of dealing with problems. The left's view is influenced by the entertainment industry. A movie star who played a psychiatrist can diagnose people. Stars who played farm wives (Jane Fonda, Sissy Spacek, Jessica Lange, and Sally Field) can testify before Congress on the future of family farms. The New York Times can claim that the Wakanda in the movie Black Panther offers an almost too perfect rebuttal to President Trump's comments about African nations. Former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson carries a little plastic Obama doll in her purse. She pulls it out every now and then to remind herself that the United States had a progressive, African-American president until recently. She claims, "Some people find this strange, but you have to take comfort where you can find it in Donald Trump's America."
Then there are the mass demonstrations, where the attendance can be measured by the amount of trash left behind. On the anniversary of President Trump's election, leftists performed a "howl-in." From New York City's Washington Square Park to Eugene, Oregon, thousands of people took part in what Facebook called "Scream helplessly at the sky on the anniversary of the election." Eva Sahana of Refuse Fascism announced, "We are screaming in rage, we are screaming in pain, but we are screaming in unity and solidarity 'cause we have a plan and a way forward." The Philadelphia screamers outside City Hall concluded with chants of "F--- Trump."
In addition to the scream movement, there is the "Pussyhat Project." On January 21, 2017, a day after Donald Trump's inauguration, approximately 200,000 people were supposed to march on Washington, D.C. to advocate for "gender equality." Tens of thousands of them were anticipated to wear "pussy hats" – pink knitted beanies with cat ears.
The leftist elite is so convinced of its intellectual superiority that it has lost touch with reality. If you are involved in a contest where you believe that your opponent is less competent than you and he defeats you, you may explain that by saying you were not putting much effort into the contest. You may be able to excuse your defeat up to the third contest. However, if your opponent defeats you overwhelmingly ten times in a row, it is time to concede that your opponent is a better contestant. If you admit this, you may be able to improve your performance by going back to school. If you insist that you are still a superior contestant, you will be continually defeated.

Liberal Democrats desire only one mechanism for all mankind: liberal control over all mankind.
The joke is that liberals are not yet mature enough to control themselves.
So what do liberals in control look like? Here are a few examples from the week just ended.
Liberals in control looks like Serena Williams pitching a fit when suddenly realizing she is going to lose the U.S. Open title to Naomi Osaka. Williams asserts that she is fighting for her daughter, for women, for black people, for equal treatment from tennis officials, for her honor, and all the little fishies in the sea.
And you thought she was just playing tennis! Oh, no, she's way bigger than that.


On video, Serena alternates among rage, insults, and tearful protestation. What political party does that remind you of? Her display of bad manners and poor sportsmanship was received warmly by liberal columnists, who would agree that although scoring much lower on the SAT than Osaka, Serena should be accepted to Harvard at the exclusion of Osaka. Liberals always have a narrative that must be strictly followed.
Liberals in control looks like exhibitionists hanging and screaming from the rafters at Judge Brett Kavanaugh's judicial hearing. The animals were escorted out two by two, but they should have been herded out 20 by 20. This is how liberals behave when discussing civic matters of importance to the whole nation.
Liberals in control looks like Merle the Mole creeping around the Oval Office while gnawing on the promises and plans of an elected president and then bragging about it to a newspaper staff of punch-drunk Pavlovian Dobermans. The doggies then run barking on all fours to workstations and have a collective fit because they can't stand the big bad man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They whimper, "Oooh, the terrible things he will do!" Then they go out at midnight and howl at the moon. "Trump is trying to silence us!" You can hear their continuous bay for three thousand miles and 2,920 days.
Liberal control looks like senators who are certain but wrong about the classification status of papers they intend to publicly release. Personally, if I had a brain small enough to fit loosely in the chin dimple of Spartacus, I would be cautious when bringing the dead white man up.
If liberal self-control could be refined and bottled, only one tiny midge would slake his thirst, and all of the rest of us, bugs, flora, and fauna, would wither and die.
These are the people who want to control you.
