Freeze Watch In Effect Monday
December 12, 2010 2:30 PM
South Floridians bundled up against the chilly weather.
Reporting David Bernard
MIAMI (CBS4) – Enjoy Sunday’s beautiful weather because a big change is heading our way.
Freeze and wind chill watches have been issued for South Florida beginning Monday night.
Our balmy temperatures will be quickly replaced by yet another powerful Arctic front. CBS 4 Chief Meteorologist David Bernard said the cold front will move across all of South Florida Sunday night. By Monday morning temperatures will fall into the 40s and 50s. Cold air will continue to pour into the area during the day and that will likely keep high temperatures in the 50s to near 60 degrees. Bernard said the worst of the cold will be felt Monday night into Tuesday morning.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Florida Keys Sunday Night through Monday.
Keys residents and visitors can expect sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph with gust in excess of 35 mph.
A Wind Chill Watch has been issued for all of South Florida for Monday night and Tuesday morning. That means the wind chills will make it feel like it’s in the upper 20s and lower 30s by Tuesday morning.
In addition, a Freeze Watch has been issued for Monday night into Tuesday morning for most of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties except from the immediate coastal areas.
