The U.S. Geological Survey says a minor earthquake has hit Virginia.
Dale Grant, a geophysicist with the USGS, said the magnitude 3.0 earthquake happened at 4:17 p.m. Saturday. Its epicenter was about 20 miles north of Richmond.
Grant said there were no reports of injuries or damages.
The USGS said on its website that the quake was felt in Virginia cities including Richmond and Charlottesville and as far as 339 miles away in Canton, N.C.
Grant said the small earthquake is "not totally unusual" for the state, and there have been small quakes in the area before.
