Thread: Question about China Olympics?

Friends,

I see where China is beating the US in the number of Gold metals in the Olympics this year and the US is barely ahead of China in the total metal count.

Can anyone tell me if this has precedent? Doesn't the US usually win the most metals and gold metals? I'm thinking about mentioning this on my radio show this Sunday and need some facts.

China is taking a lot of Gold right now because they are competeing in things that they are strong at. They are very good divers but not strong swimmers. They are also very good at gymnastics (seems to always be a Communist dominated event). The events they are winning right now, I think it has a lot to do with body type. They can tear up a ping-pong table but can't win the 100 meter dash. Americans come in all shapes and sizes so we have and advantage and opportunity to win more events.

Wait till track and field start up as it did today. I think the US count will go up.

That is cool Dixie. Right now we're ahead by five in total number of medals. China is ahead in Gold but like I say wait until the other events start up.
