Seven people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint Saturday night in southeast Fresno, Fresno police said.

The checkpoint was conducted at Ventura Avenue and R Street. An additional 34 vehicles were impounded because drivers had no license or were suspected of driving driving under the influence, police said.

Visalia checkpoint snares two on DUI

Visalia police arrested two people on suspicion of drunken driving during a checkpoint near Ben Maddox Way and Goshen Avenue between 9 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.

Officers also issued 17 citations for unlicensed driving, five citations for driving with a suspended license and three other citations.

Twenty vehicles were towed and stored, police said.
