    The Petro-Dollar War

The first thing the US did when it invaded and took over Iraq was reverse Saddam Hussein's recently policy of demanding Euros in payment for his countries oil.

Some think that's what the war was all about and that Iran's insistence on receiving Euros for its oil is the real reason that country has been targeted.

    Dollars? Euros? What's the difference?

The difference is this...if you are the dominant currency, you can support your lifestyle and war machine by printing more when you run out.

Take that power away and there will be a very economic painful dislocation in the US.

I believe it was Saddam Hussein who, as a young and revoluntary leader, seized control of Iraq's oil industry from private Western oil companies and nationalized it into the common property of the people of Iraq. Evidentally, as a result of the "successful" invasion of Iraq, these same oil companies are now in negotiations to redivide "the spoils" (control of exploration, production, and distribution of oil from Iraq) among themselves under the same kind of no-bid contracts which have allowed so many other large companies to make huge profits as a result of this war. But this is the "biggest plum of all", and, in my opinion, one of the two main reasons for the war, the other being to place a permanent U.S. military presence in the Middle East to defend the interests of Israel in addition to those of these private Western oil companies.

Unfortunately, it seems a pattern for former "revoluationaries" who come to power in countries without a history of representative democracy to become dictators themselves once they are in power, often far exceeding the "tyranny of colonial rule" they replaced!

Also, I have read that one of the primary motivations for the "New World Order" is the centralization of control of the world's natural resources under one central bureaucracy. George Bush, Sr. made his money in oil production in Texas, and his entire family has strong ties with private oil interests both here and in Mexico. One of Mexico's primary sources of revenue comes from "PEMEX", its national oil company. One of Mexico's largest producing oil fields in now running out of oil, a real threat to its national revenues! Also, because Mexico's revenues are so mismanaged by its corrupt central government, it cannot afford needed exploration of other sources of production off its coasts, where exploration is very expensive. The near future would seem to be an optimum time for large private oil and other business interests--both here and in Mexico--to suggest that financial assistance might be forthcoming for such exploration if Mexico would consider transferring control of its oil industry into the private hands.
