TIER 5 UNEMPLOYMENT H.R.6556 AND JERRY'S REQUEST

The following was posted in the comment section of an article written by Michael Colliss titled "H.R.6556-Latest Attempt to Expand Unemployment-Serious Attempt or Cynical Ploy" at ALLNEWS247.com by a poster known to me only as Jerry. I do not know Jerry personally but I presume by his comments he is a 99er and in his comments he asked everyone reading his comments to "Copy and paste this to every blog and unemployment advocacy organization you can!".

I think the 99ers can speak for themselves better than any other advocate so I am publishing Jerry's comments here in their entirety.
Jerry said,
I was watching the news a few nights ago and saw a little coverage on the tax bill.
The coverage showed how a family making $100,000 a year would get an extra $2,000 in their pockets for the year and how Obama makes about 5 to 6 million because of books and such and how he would get about $300,000 extra in his pockets out of the deal.
They compared how the long term unemployed will get some needed help to survive while struggling to find a job. They showed a very short interview with a woman who said the $273 dollars a month was going to help put food on the table.
Right after this their was a story on how the Republicans will not continue to help the
9-11 victims and how they failed to pass the needed legislation for the rescuers who were ill from the affects of smoke and dust and such. They even talked a little about how the president did not even speak up for these people.
Nothing about the 99er's at all. If I were not wise to the real statistics and were someone who has not been affected by the economy or amongst the employed……I would think that the unemployed are being taken care of.
I do not believe that every journalist and news station is oblivious to the fact that there are 5 to 6 million middle class Americans being neglected in this process.
Journalists thrive on covering issues that create controversy and debate.
….issues about the lack of or abundance of compassion…..issues that affect emotions……stories that get people fired up in a good and/or a bad way….stories that talk about the truth that no one wants to hear…….stories on issues that challenge and rock the foundation of our government at it's core.
There are 5 to 6 million middle class Americans who lost their jobs because of this economy and have exhausted all unemployment benefits.
People who have spent everything they have.
People with Doctorate, Masters, and Bachelors degrees are amongst these numbers.
Every imaginable profession!
Why is it that on every major main stream news source whether it's the internet…..newspaper….or television…this issue is avoided.
There are people in the media who know that the numbers are false…..who know that the true number of unemployed is much higher….who know that there are barely enough jobs out there to accommodate for even 20 percent of the actual amount of unemployed people.
If we were living in a different time I might be able to accept the theory that maybe the media is just unaware that this situation exists. We are living in a time where information is at your fingertips.
I think we should start bombarding every major main stream news source with the same energy we have been focusing on congress. We are not going to get anywhere with congress until the media starts talking about this
.
Lets bog down the media system and talk shows (like Oprah) through thousands of relentless emails, faxes, phone calls, postal mail and whatever else we can think of. We need to relentlessly educate these sources with facts and stories about the true situation, pretentious claims about us and the fact that congress is trying so hard to keep this situation quite.
To put things into perspective….Ireland and Norway combined have a population less than 10 million. Denmark….between 5 and 6 million, Norway….between 4 and 5 million, and Israel….between 7 and 8 million. http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/populat...
That includes children……
WE ARE 5 TO 6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED ADULTS CUT OFF FROM FINANCIAL AIDE!
If 1 percent of 6 million of us were to contact every major mainstream media outlet and talk show host every week…. that would be 60,000 per week…..2 percent 120,000….3 percent 180,000.
Do you think this might get there attention? It could be overwhelming logistically for them to manage the influx of information on a constant level.
We have the internet for the exchange of information at our disposal……..this is something that was not available during the Great Depression in the 1920's.
Copy and paste this to every blog and unemployment advocacy organization you can!
Amongst us unemployed there are those readers who have made comments and there are many users who have not. I know that not everyone has the inclination to write to these sites and make comments.
We are all in a similar situation. We have all been going through this together. There are the new and the old 99er's and the new and the old unemployed currently getting checks. For those of you in the system right now….it is very likely that you are going to be in the same predicament as the 99er's sometime in the near future. We need you too.
I looked up some information on The Bureau of Labor statistics website.
Here is what I found. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.n...
The unemployment rate edged up to 9.8 percent in November.
The number of unemployed persons was 15.1 million in November.
If you take 15.1 million and divide it by 9.8 percent you get the number of people included in these statistics which is 154,081,632.
Adding 5 million to 15.1 million gives you 20.1 million.
20.1 million is just over 13 percent of 154,081,632.
Adding 6 million to 15.1 percent gives you 21.1 million.
21.1 million is 13.69 percent of 154,081,632.
If the estimated number of 99er's that have not found work yet is correct then including them in the unemployment rate puts it between 13 and 13.7 percent!
Congress does not want people to know this or they will look like idiots because they have been hiding this from the general public since early last year! They want everyone to think that they have been able to keep the unemployment rate below 10 percent.
That is why they in my opinion they will never help the 99er's.
We have to try a different approach by getting the media attention first.
1. Use programs like word to make drafts of your stories, comments and pleas to places you will be posting so that you can simply copy and paste in an effort to streamline this process of bombarding the media, talk shows and websites… etc.
2. Make different versions of your comments or stories. Some sites only allow a minimum of say 2000 characters (like Oprah) when contacting them. You may have to write condensed and different versions of your draft. Be sure to save these as separate files. You can name the file "2000 character version for instance". This will give you multiple versions to copy and paste for different scenarios.
3. Write a comment version of a file that is factual information on the 99er's so that we can streamline comments into the mainstream media blogs. Something like this;
"There are 5 to 6 million unemployed former middle class Americans who have exhausted all unemployment benefits that were not included amongst the recipients of the extensions in any legislation that congress has passed. It has been estimated that there is only one job for every 5 to 6 unemployed people. The 5 to 6 million people that have not been able to find work are not even counted in the estimated national 9.8 percent unemployment rate because they are no longer eligible to collect benefits and have been left out as long term benefit recipients for months now. This group is growing every month and could be as big as 10 million by the end of 2011. Congress does not want you to know the much higher true unemployment numbers they have been hiding. The President will not even acknowledge that this problem exists. They are hoping that the true long term unemployed that they have abandoned will just go away."
FDR told activists in his own party, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it."
Let's make these people deal with the unemployed during this Christmas season. Take them out of there comfort zone ….force them to acknowledge that this economy is a lot worse off then they know.
I know for many it is hard to find the energy for this fight because of the constant failure our efforts have made to get heard (let alone helped) but DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!
Maybe one of these sites that support us can provide contact links to these mainstream media and other influential sources so we have an easy way to streamline this effort.

Here is a link for how to write Oprah for starts.
