ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department is investigating a shooting in the city of Rochester that killed a police officer. Rural/Metro Medical Services says an officer was shot and taken by a police vehicle to Rochester General Hospital where he died.

Hudson Avenue is shut down at Avenue D. At least a dozen police cars are on scene.

A Rural/Metro Medical Services spokesperson says an ambulance transported two people from the Hudson Avenue and Bauman Street area to Strong Memorial Hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.

New York State Police and Monroe County Sheriff's deputies are also assisting in the investigation.
