Many politicos have said that Florida Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson is on shaky ground in next year’s election. And a new poll conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research proves it, Politico reports.
Against five different Republican opponents support for Nelson doesn’t reach 50 percent, the survey shows. Former GOP Gov. Jeb Bush appears to be the most powerful potential Republican candidate for Nelson, leading him 49 percent to 41 percent.
But Bush almost certainly won’t run. Those who might include Rep. Connie Mack, former Sen. George LeMieux, state Senate President Mike Haridopolos and former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner.
Nelson leads Mack 45 percent to 40 percent, leads LeMieux 49 percent to 35 percent, Haridopolos 48 percent to 25 percent and Hasner 46 percent to 22 percent.
