Ron Paul Leads Hillary Clinton in Key Demographic

    October 23, 2007

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA—Public opinion service Rasmussen Reports recently released data from its October 12-14 polling that indicates that Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul leads his GOP opponents against Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton among likely voters ages 30-49. He is the leading White House contender for the key demographic, polling higher than Clinton among baby boomers. Congressman Paul polls in at 47 %, compared with Clinton’s 44%, among likely voters aged 40-49.

The 30-49 demographic has been a key indicator in recent elections, and one in which Republicans tend to fare well in hotly-contested elections. In 2004, exit polls reveal that George Bush beat John Kerry 53% to 46% among 30-44 year olds, and all accounts indicate that this will be the most instrumental demographic in the 2008 presidential election as well.

Jay Leno asked Dr. Paul if he would consider being Vice-President and he said No because he does not agree with the other Repub. front runners, then he said "besides I think I will be President" and he laughed,he continued by saying his team feels he has a good shot at the Presidency.

    I think so too....GO RON PAUL !!!!!

How about some more details on the poll? Does anyone have a link to where the official breakdown of the poll can be found? Thanks.

He was absolutely wonderful on Jay Leno the other night. He showed me that he is something that every person running for President better beware of. He could slide right in and cut them off at the knees.

    Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
    Thursday, November 01, 2007
    Advertisment

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Senator Hillary Clinton with just about as much support as all seven of her challengers combined in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Clinton earns 43% of the vote and the other seven collectively attract 44%. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided. Individually, Barack Obama attracts 20%, John Edwards is preferred by 12%, Bill Richardson by 5%, Joe Biden by 3%, and no other candidate attracts more than 2% of Likely Democratic Primary Voters (see recent daily numbers).

These results are based upon nightly telephone surveys are reported on a four-day rolling average basis. Approximately three-fourths of the interviews for today’s update were conducted before the end of Tuesday night’s Democratic debate. The debate itself had a small audience, but news coverage of it may influence perceptions of the candidates. That impact, if any, will be measured in the coming days. The debate’s focus on Senator Clinton and post-debate analysis confirmed Rasmussen Reports earlier assessment that Clinton has become the unifying theme of Election 2008.

In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, Rudy Giuliani remains on top but Fred Thompson has fallen back to essentially a second place tie with Mitt Romney and John McCain. Among Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide, Giuliani is preferred by 24% while Thompson is the first choice for 15%. Romney and McCain are at 14% while Mike Huckabee has dropped a couple of points back to 10%. No other Republican attracts more than 3% support (see recent daily numbers).

A commentary by Douglas Schoen suggests that Mitt Romney may be the candidate to beat in the GOP race due to his leads in Iowa and New Hampshire. However, Dick Morris wonders if a race between Clinton and Giuliani is inevitable.

New polling data released today shows that Barack Obama is now in a general election toss-up with both Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. Hillary Clinton also finds herself in a close race with those Republican hopefuls. Other recent survey data shows that Americans doubt that economic sanctions will work against Iran, 61% of voters have no opinion as to whether or not Michael Mukasey should be confirmed as Attorney General, and 82% of Virginia voters oppose drivers’ licenses for illegal aliens. On a related immigration topic, just 22% of voters nationwide supported the Dream Act, a measure that failed last week in the U.S. Senate.

The Rasmussen Reports Election 2008 Presidential Tracking Poll is updated daily, Monday through Friday. Daily results are based upon a four day rolling average and new results are posted each day by noon Eastern.

Daily tracking results are from survey interviews conducted over four days ending last night. Each update includes approximately 750-800 Likely Democratic Primary Voters and 600-650 Likely Republican Primary Voters. Margin of sampling error for each is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Rasmussen Reports provides a weekly analysis of both the Republican and Democratic race each Monday.

Each Monday, full week results are released based upon a seven-day rolling average. While the daily tracking result are useful for measuring quick reaction to events in the news, the full week results provide an effective means for evaluating longer-term trends.

I can find no mention of Paul in the above Rasmussen Report, and it's more recent.

Chloe, for validity purposes, please provide a link directly from Rasmussen on the poll you posted. Thanks.

I think that Paul has everyone in America thinking. If America does not hear what they want to hear from the Repbublicans they could take their votes and easily go for Paul.
