Let's drill for oil, for God's sake

Let's drill for oil, for God's sake, especially in Alaska.

If we had started to drill for oil 30 years ago during the oil crisis of the
1970s, I believe we would not be in this $4-$5 dollar a gallon oil mess we are in right now.

Imagine this headline thirty years from now in 2038 A.D.:

"News Flash: The United States Congress is debating
a plan to drill for oil in Alaska and off the coasts of Louisana and
Florida, because the American people are angry over the $20 a gallon price it has to pay for gas at the pump.

"This debate has been going on since 2008, but for various reasons, Congress has not been able to come to any agreement over the past 30 years as to how to drill in Alaska and off the coasts of Louisana and Florida.

"Of course, drilling off the coasts of Louisana and Florida may not yield any oil, because the Chinese and European countries have been drilling for oil off the Cuban coast---with Cuba's blessing because Cuba shares in the profits--- for the past 30 years."

Sean Hannity made a good point on the radio the other day. He said that can you imagine what the Saudis are thinking when we go to them and beg and plead for increases of oil production when we are sitting on more oil than we know what to do with. Today, I heard that on Gull Island, the drilling has been done and capped (which has been kept from the American public purposely) and there's more oil there than what is in Saudi Arabia alone, not to mention what is in North Dakota, Anwar in Alaska and what's off our Gulf shores..where the Chinese and the Cubans are drilling..but we can't drill there? What kind of hogwash is that. Any Representative that ignores our need to start drilling our resources is a fumbling idiot that should be hung out to dry.

Well at least now we know who is a schill for the oil companies on this board. The mideast sells oil - they don't set the prices. Thats being done entirely in the new shadow market system that Bush allowed to be set up in 2001.

Who are you calling a shill for the oil companies?

It sounds as if you look upon the oil companies as the enemy.

What is this "new shadow market system that Bush allowed"? Pleas explain.

Are you saying that anyone who calls for the drilling of oil in Alaska and off the coasts of Louisana and Florida is only interested in more profits for the oil companies?

Myself, I say "drill". And I have no connection to any oil company.

I'm just an angry, average American who is tired of paying $4--and climbing--for gas at the pump.

If you have a better solution to the oil crisis than letting the oil companies drill for oil in Alaska and off the coasts of Louisana and Florida, please tell us what it is.

    Enquiring minds want to know.

Well at least now we know who is a schill for the environmental idiots on this board. The mideast sells oil and OPEC decides how much the world will have regardless of it's need. That's being done by those countries who laugh at the USA for being so dependent on them and can't lift an arm to produce and refine it's own oil due to a group of people called environMENTALists.
latone, I would suggest you pull your head out and wake up to what's going on. Half the reason why gas is at the price it is is because of the value of a dollar. The problem isn't the oil companies, the problem is with our so called 'federal reserve' who is about as federal as Federal Express.
As long as they pump billions into the economy to help avoid recessions and market collapses, our dollar will get weaker and weaker. It only makes sense that we refine our own oil rather than going to the other side of the world to beg and plead like a country with their hat in their hand, like a hobo on the street, a panhandler, a bum..to hell with that..that is unless you think that the world owes you something just for being born.
