Me, a 'domestic extremist'? So be it!

We have some dear friends who are Traditional Catholics. Like many conservative Christians, this means the women dress modestly and in skirts. Their 15-year-old daughter, GG, is attending a boarding school in our region, and since she's so far from home, we're blessed to have her with us this Thanksgiving weekend.

But her parents are worried about GG's Christmas break. "What with the whole nude body scanner/groping issue at the airport, I'm fretting about having her fly home," wrote her mother.

Let's face it, the (cough) "security" measures being implement by the TSA right now are daunting enough for an adult, but for a modest teen girl flying alone, they're terrifying. "I won't let them touch me," GG told me, panic in her voice. The thought of strangers running their hands over her intimate parts is completely antithetical to both her religious and her personal convictions.

And for that bit of unacceptable defiance, our young friend can be labeled a "domestic extremist."

According to an article by Doug Hagmann at the Canada Free Press, an internal memo with the DHS "officially addresses those who are opposed to, or engaged in the disruption of the implementation of the enhanced airport screening procedures as 'domestic extremists.'"

There's a groundswell of hatred and loathing across Real America directed at the DHS and its minions, because all of us – every last man, woman and child – are assumed to be "domestic extremists" unless proven otherwise. And we apparently must prove otherwise by passively allowing a pair of disease-ridden blue gloves to fondle our private parts.

Sign WND's online petition demanding an end to invasive and unconstitutional security checks by the TSA.

Let the 537 most powerful people in Washington know what you think about the TSA's new screening procedures.

That's not America. That's Germany circa 1933. The TSA agents should be wearing brown shirts, not blue.

Look, it's not just the naked scans and crotch gropes at airports that I find offensive, though they're bad enough; it's that when anyone makes a natural objection against something so invasive and so patently unconstitutional, we are automatically labeled as "domestic extremists." Folks, this is getting creepy.

Hagmann's article also says, "The label [of domestic extremist] is then broadened to include 'any person, group or alternative media source' that actively objects to, causes others to object to, supports and/or elicits support for anyone who engages in such travel disruptions at U.S. airports in response to the enhanced security procedures." [Emphasis in the original.] Alternative media source. Not mainstream, alternative. This means by the simple act of writing this column, not to mention my association with WorldNetDaily, I'm already on the list. A quiet north Idaho housewife is lumped with the likes of Timothy McVeigh, Charlie Manson and the Unibomber. Isn't that nice?

The DHS has only a partial interest in catching airline terrorists. If they truly wanted to, then they would profile. Instead, these TSA tactics are designed to accustom American citizens to passively comply with humiliating suppression strategies. Our government, apparently, is working toward turning us ALL into enemies of the state in order to suspend our constitutionally guaranteed liberties and usher in an era of Germany circa 1933. Or does that make me sound paranoid?

American travelers are not "extremists." They are ordinary people traveling by plane to visit loved ones or to conduct business. Disgust with having their dignity literally stripped away does NOT mean they want to take down the government …

Yet.

Here's a newsflash to the DHS: It is your actions, attitudes and behaviors that are turning ordinary Americans into "domestic extremists." Not our behavior, yours. By refusing to uphold and defend the Constitution – ever heard of the Fourth Amendment? – you are tipping normal people over the edge of complacency into fury. By groping nuns and humiliating cancer survivors, you are catapulting normal citizens into the realms of political hate like never before.

In other words, the actions of the DHS appear to be a calculated attempt to push us over the edge. When you leave the disabled covered in urine or turn a 15-year-old girl into a "domestic extremist" because she refuses to be groped by strangers, then you've turned these people, their family, their friends and anyone who sympathizes with them into "extremists." Widen that circle and you've encompassed a significant portion the U.S. population. This is the breeding ground for revolt and revolution. A free people can only be oppressed for so long before they rise up and throw off the yoke of subjugation. Savvy?

"The American people are being carefully and deliberately conditioned to accept the stripping away of our constitutional rights, a process in the making for nearly a century," writes Doug Hagmann in another article. "To see how far this conditioning has progressed, just look at how many people are willing to be groped, fondled, nuked and subjected to other forms of degrading tactics by agents of the federal government for the mere illusion of security. They reason that if it will make air travel safer to have their genitalia fondled, it is a 'necessary evil.' Well, they are only half correct; it is indeed evil, but not necessary."

This erosion of our constitutional rights spans multiple administrations, though unquestionably it has accelerated under Obama. But these "security" features go beyond keeping terrorists off airplanes. By labeling the uncooperative as "extremists," the DHS is separating the wheat from the chaff in the eyes of the government. The "wheat" (the compliant sheeple) are allowed to go about their business. The "chaff" (we who object) are duly noted and recorded and/or investigated and fined. It is not outside the realm of possibility that we "extremists" will hear a knock on our door some time in the future. Or does that make me sound paranoid?

The TSA strategy is only the first test. I foresee a lot more "wheat and chaff" tactics in the future. And I'm not the only one drawing parallels between what was once a beautiful country steeped in liberty to the paranoid disaster that befell Germany nearly 80 years ago.

I, for one, am proud to be "chaff." And by urging others to join me, I am putting myself squarely in the camp of "domestic extremist."

So be it.
