SCOTUS rules on dirty words on airwaves

    BREAKING NEWS!
FCC 'fleeting expletives' policy in _ for now
By MARK SHERMAN – 10 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is giving tentative approval to government regulation of the use of even a single curse word on live television.

But the court, in a 5-4 decision Tuesday, is refusing to pass judgment on whether the Federal Communications Commission's "fleeting expletives" policy is in line with First Amendment guarantees of free speech. The justices say a federal appeals court should weigh the constitutionality of the policy.

The decision throws out a ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York. The appeals court had found in favor of a Fox Television-led challenge to the policy and had returned the case to the FCC to let the agency provide a "reasoned analysis" for its tougher line on indecency.

The commission appealed to the Supreme Court instead.

I understand it started with the F bomb, but what are the list of the others? Back to George Carlins deadly words? LOL Or are we going to "offensive" words which can be anything any particular group doesn't want to hear?

Freedom of Speech is under attack.

This is the starting place for the so-called hate words violations. Hate words and crimes will be anyone that says anything that opposes Gov't position.

I also had to laugh at reports of the proclamation by some Israel minister that calling this flu a "swine" flu was offensive to both Jews and Muslims.

That's what I figure, and no illegal alien, no illegal immigrant, no "word" that offends any minority group and shows an accurate discription as to what's going on.

I was thinking of George Carlins words and outside of the f bomb and the do-do word.....the rest aren't said on the air for the most part. I can switch to "what the fraq" or type WTF, and it's not changing anything. People know what you mean. A rose by any other name smells a sweet. I just know in one of our papers, they may have an article on breast feeding, but your response can't have the words breast, boob, etc in it. I think I finally passed with "chest feeding" and "chest milk". You can't write the word rape, prostitution, sex, molestation, porn, pornography, naked, nude, etc. Even when it's those same words used in the article.....and they are the correct term to use. No sex offender, no child molestor. It's ended up being sugar coated to "a man who made unwanted advances to a woman". Well, sorry, rape is alot more than unwanted advances. I mean even when you're discussing "not discriminating against race, sex, relegious or marital status". No slang terms allowed for any other group, but fine for slag words for white people. Really tests your language skills for sure. Oh and you can't even put LOL.......what's offensive about that?

I heard that too!!!!! I'm like what would you prefere we name it? Wonder what it means if you have a sin against pork and God forbid you get this flu? EEwwweeee.....piggie DNA in your system! 40 virgins and pearly gates off limits to you! If we switch the name to a more non-offensive word, is that going to change the truth?
