A new Latino-focused online website partnership between the Union-Tribune and SanDiegoRed.com was launched Tuesday to provide more news, features and advertising opportunities to Spanish speakers and businesses.
SanDiegoRed.com is a partner of La Jolla-based Busca Corp., which built the website's social media platform. Busca also offers a portal of video games, LevelUp.com, which can be accessed through SanDiegoRed.com.
Under the UT-SanDiegoRed.com arrangement, stories from the Union-Tribune and its Spanish-language publication Enlace may appear on the SanDiegoRed.com site, and some SanDiegoRed.com content may appear in the UT and Enlace. The UT's online website, SignOnSanDiego.com, includes a link to SanDiegoRed.com. Visitors to Enlace's website, mienclace.com, will be redirected to SanDiegoRed.com.
"Latinos make up 31 percent of the population of San Diego County and are an integral part of the fabric of our region," said Mike Hodges, SignOnSanDiego.com general manager and UT vice president for interactive services. "As we advance our mission of improving lives and building a stronger community through information, insight and ideas, we want to expand our offerings for this important audience as well as advertisers who are interested in connecting with it -- and we couldn't think of a better partner."
SanDiegoRed.com, which include both English and Spanish articles, includes news about the region, an entertainment guide for both sides of the border, coverage of Mexican soccer and boxing and profiles of young athletes, and Videos, photo galleries, bloggers and recipes from a gourmet chef.
"We want SanDiegoRed.com to be the home page for Latinos in our region," said former Enlace Aida Bustos, SanDiegoRed.com site director. "By partnering with SignOnSanDiego.com -- the region's No. 1 website -- we believe we can do it."

San Diego is an example of corporate Republicans
Mayor Saunders of San Diego has been one big sell out. He is wrecking San Diego. Even though San Diego is on the border with Mexico, illegal aliens would skip that area and come up to los angeles, so San Deigo has always looked like Iowa but since these new corporate backed politcians, thanks to Citizens United Ruling by conservatives on the Supreme Court, San Diego is looking more and more like Eaast L.A.

I've lived in San Diego for more than 30 years.
I've been in East L.A. many times.
My neighborhood doesn't look anything like East L.A.
I'm glad that National City and Chula Vista are between downtown San Diego and the border.
They are kind of like a buffer zone.NO AMNESTY
