Reid: Probe of Quran Burning Considered

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says congressional lawmakers are discussing taking some action in response to the Koran burnings of a Tennessee pastor that led to killings at the U.N. facility in Afghanistan and sparked protests across the Middle East, Politico reports.

“Ten to 20 people have been killed," Reid said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.â€

Sen Lindsey Graham needs to explain his statement!

We are free in the US and yes that pastor is definitely crazy in my opinion but it is his right! Our nation does not promote religion and therefore in this case about the burning of the Koran Congress should stay out of it If they don't we as the people of the US will ensure that these people in Washington are kept in line! We have freedom of Speech and no Graham and Reid we are NOT at war with Islam! The Bible is trampled every day and where are you there?

am i the only one who didnt know this happened till i heard about the killings at the UN Area in afghanistan?

but instead of trampling and wasting time trying to take away someones

Marietta Woman Denies Link to Mid East Violence

Atlanta, GA —

A Marietta woman who participated in the burning of a Muslim Koran at a Florida church denies having anything to do with Friday's violence in Afghanistan.

The 53-year-old Marietta grandmother participated in a mock trial at the Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida. The trial ended with the burning of a Koran.

Angry Afghans Friday stormed a U.N. compound in northern Afghanistan killing seven foreigners including four Nepalese guards.

JoBeth Gerrard says her actions had nothing to do with what happened in Afghanistan.

"They can use that as their excuse," she said. "But I'm not buying it."

She said the violence would have happened anyway.

"They always have an excuse," she said. "They're always making up an excuse. This is in their Koran to go and kill infidels."

The topic of Quran burning stirred outrage among millions of Muslims and others worldwide after the Rev. Terry Jones' small church, Dove Outreach Center, threatened to destroy a copy of the holy book last year. The pastor backed down but the church in Gainesville, Florida, went through with the burning last month.

Four protesters also died in the violence in Mazar-i-Sharif, which is on a list of the first seven areas of the country where Afghan security forces are slated to take over from the U.S.-led coalition starting in July. Other demonstrations, which were peaceful, were held in Kabul and Herat in western Afghanistan, fueling resentment against the West at a critical moment in the Afghan war.

Protesters burned a U.S. flag at a sports stadium in Herat and chanted "Death to the U.S.'' and "They broke the heart of Islam.'' About 100 people gathered at a traffic circle near the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. One protester carried a sign that said: "We want these bloody bastard Americans with all their forces to leave Afghanistan.'

Nonetheless, Gerrard says there is no way the buring of a Koran in Gainesville, Florida can be blamed for the slaughter she is convinced would have happened anyway.

"What happened is they went to Friday prayers. Their Imam got them all incited up and they went out as a mob and killed and beheaded these poor people.

When asked if she had to do it all over again would she change anything, Gerrard said no.

And for our politicians and the MSM to start considering muffling free speech, this is unbelievable. What we need as country are leaders with a spine, we don't need political correctness or misplaced compassion, we need decisive leaders who are not going to take any prisoners. And yes there is a way to do that and be a winner politically, and man do we need such leaders.

Look at the freedom lost after 9/11 can't board a plane without xray or strip search, what would Graham have us do covert to Islam perhaps would that end the killing. The problem in Afghanistan is we are there, stop the nation building build a super defense and if attack remove the attackers from this earth. Nation building only brings more trouble.
