Thread: Senate attaching bailout as an Amendment

Since all revenue/funding bills are supposed to present in the House first, I wondered what they thought they were doing in the Senate by presenting this bill tonight.

I called Dole's office. They had no idea how to answer. I called Obama's office. After much transferring from person to person and waiting on the line, here is what they said ... I wrote it down.

"The Bailout plan is being attached as an amendment to an unrelated bill which as been passed by the house, the Mental Health Parity Act, HR1424."

Although this is legal and done often, something as important as this never should have been manipulated in this way, imo. I called Senator Dole's office here in town and gave them the specifics of what I had found out. They seemed to be upset about it, also, for whatever that's worth.
