Note that the original article did not say she was a Democrat. If it had been a Republican or Independent coversative, it would have read the CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN SENATOR blah blah blah." Makes me laugh.

State Senator Dianne Wilkerson was arrested early Tuesday by the FBI on public corruption charges and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Wilkerson, the Democrat Senator, had been under an 18-month undercover investigation by Boston police and the FBI in which she allegedly accepted eight bribes worth $23,500.
If convicted, Dianne Wilkerson faces up to 20 years in prison plus $250,000 in fines for each of two criminal counts.
Legal analyst and former prosecutor Jennifer Roman said that with the amount of evidence prosecutors seem to have against Wilkerson, a plea deal is more likely than a trial.
"I think Diane Wilkerson will see jail time," Roman told WBZ TV. "Because it's 20 years maximum if she was to go to trial it's more likely that she will see a couple of years and probably a lengthy probation period with a very hefty fine."
Dianne Wilkerson has been serving in the Massachusetts Senate since 1993, the first African American woman elected to that post.
"We've all been walking around with our jaws dropped," said Horace Small, executive director of the Union of Minority Neighborhoods, which is based in Wilkerson's district.
"I just felt this incredible sadness. Dianne's personal life was nothing short of a nightmare, but in my interactions with her was as a legislator, she was one of the best. . . . She mastered that building."
