The scenes unfolded in Vienna when Turkish and Kurdish protestors clashed at Stephansplatz, a famous square in the heart of the Austrian capital.

Every Saturday, Kurdish inhabitants of Vienna use Stephansplatz to draw attention to their plight in Turkey.

Last weekend, the situation escalated when Kurdish demonstrators were reportedly attacked by a group of Turks, one of whom was said to have been shouting “Allahu Akbar”, which caused the mass panic.

Video footage of the stampede has emerged where people are seen fleeing the square after the Islamic shouts were heard.

People who tried to run away fell to the ground in the stampede.

Prousek said: “Tables and dishes flew into the air. Food lay on the ground. Our outdoor cafe was completely ravaged and we had to close our branch. Some senior citizens were sitting on our stairs and crying.”

She added: “Police were not happy with the scenes either, but they said the people had the freedom to organise the protest.”

Last week, police in Vienna also had to intervene at the national public broadcaster ORF when Kurdish protestors tried to storm the building to call for the reading of a press release on Austrian news.

Over the last few weeks, many more clashes between Kurdish and Turkish protestors have been reported by police throughout the capital.

Just wonderful - the beautiful, charming, cultured city of Vienna Austria is now home for the infighting of kurds & turks. Outrageous! Why don't they go back to their countries and figure it out - why bring this lunacy to civilized Europe? why bring them in, allow them to be there. You can say goodbye to the bloodlines of Europe. And America's too.
