US Airways CEO reports to jail
    By Jill Redhage
    Tribune

The top executive of US Airways began his 24-hour jail sentence for drunken driving Saturday morning in a Phoenix jail. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio confirmed that Doug Parker, 45, reported to jail, but Arpaio declined to say what time Parker arrived. Arpaio said Parker was separated from other inmates due to his "high profile" and "notoriety." But Arpaio said Parker was getting "no special treatment."

Parker stayed at Estrella Jail, according to an automated inmate information line operated by the sheriff's office. The US Airways CEO pleaded guilty Tuesday in Scottsdale City Court to driving while intoxicated.

On Jan. 31, Parker's Tempe-based company dropped its bid to acquire Delta Air Lines. That night, a Scottsdale police officer stopped Parker for speeding as he left a party at the FBR Open golf tournament.

A blood test showed Parker's blood-alcohol level was 0.096, above the 0.08 legal limit.

The City Court judge ordered Parker to pay a fine of about $1,650 and be screened by a doctor for any alcohol-related problems. His speeding charge was dismissed.

Initially, Parker was scheduled to serve his jail time on March 15. Court officials were unavailable Saturday to comment on the reason for the date change. Copyright © 2007 Freedom Communications / Arizona. Displayed by permission. All rights reserved.

I cannot link his private life with his job.

If he was arrested intoxicated let them prossecute him as a person intoxicated.NOT as a pilot.
    He wasn't piloting any airplane

Let them worry with what has to be worried about.

I don't think he was a pilot, I believe that he was the CEO. It sounds like they are trying to make an example out of him, since he holds a high position. If he was Joe Schmoe off of the street, they would not make a big deal out of it. Although, I have little sympathy considering that he could have killed someone.
