    Snivelling Dog

All words or phrases in bold are my doing.

HONOLULU - Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman's show has been pulled from the air indefinitely by cable TV network A&E, two days after a private phone conversation in which the reality star repeatedly used a racial slur was posted online.

"In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' off the network's schedule for the foreseeable future," the network said in a statement Friday. "We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun."

But A&E officials said the series, one of the network's top-rated programs, has not been cancelled.

Chapman's son taped a private phone conversation in which the reality star used a racial slur repeatedly, then sold it to a tabloid for "a lot of money," Chapman's lawyer said.

"I guess because of whatever level of anger he had of his father, he felt the need to express it in that manner," attorney Brook Hart told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Tucker Chapman could not be reached for comment; no one answered the telephone at a Honolulu number listed under his name.

Duane Chapman, star of A&E's hit reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," issued a statement Wednesday apologizing for the comments after The National Enquirer posted a clip of the conversation in which he uses a derogatory term in reference to his son's black girlfriend. The word is frequently referred to as the "N-word" because of its painful history as a racist epithet associated with slavery in America.*
Chapman apologized to his son and the woman, then learned about how the tape got into the tabloid's hands, Hart said.

An after-hours telephone message for David Perel, the Enquirer's editor in chief, was not immediately returned. But earlier in the day, Perel declined to say how the tape was obtained, saying what mattered was what was on the tape.

In the conversation, Chapman urges Tucker to break up with his girlfriend. He also expresses concern about the girlfriend trying to tape and go public about the TV star's use of the word in question.
Chapman has said he was "disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should have never used that term." He also said he was ashamed of himself and pledged to make amends.

Hart said his client is not a racist and vowed never to use the word again.

"I have never seen anything that suggests he judges people by the colour of their skin or racial background or anything but on their character," he said. "Duane lost his composure and made very, very inappropriate remarks, for which he truly regrets."

The TV series follows Chapman and his tattooed crew as they track down bail jumpers in Hawaii and other states. The show also stars some members of Chapman's family, but Tucker Chapman is not regularly featured.

The Honolulu-based bounty hunter first grabbed headlines for apprehending serial rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico in 2003.

*So it's gotten to the point that a journalist won't even quote the word nïgger, but will describe it in 23 words so that everyone knows the word in question is "nïgger". Doesn't it seem to be a bit childish? Maybe even a bit F-wording superstitious? When the H-E-double-hockey-sticks will a journalist get fed up and finally scream, "THE EMPOROR ISN'T WEARING ANY ******S!"?

Due to the recent spate of TV interviews with "Dog" Chapman, I now know exactly what a horrid crime against the cosmos it is to use the N word ... at one point during his weepy dialogue with Larry King, he declared that the act of privately uttering that racial epithet was the worst thing he has ever done in his life ... now this is coming from a guy who did prison time for murder. So there you have it, folks ... using the N word is now officially worse than killing someone.
Thanks, Dog ... inspired by your example, we can all now proceed in this life happily slaying others, but taking care never to call them mean names.

In no way would I ever condone the bad behavior exhibited by Chapman. With that said though, the conversation that took place between him and his son was private and shouldn't have been shared with the media. This isn't like the Don Imus situation where a comment was made in public - this was a private phone conversation. If I was Chapman I'd bring a lawsuit against the Enquirer for making the private phone conversation public!

He should of just said: "I consider myself to be a black rapper at heart, those are the type of people I deal with every day", and left it at that.

I can't feel sorry for Dog. Has anyone here ever heard of Karma -that's what got him. Had he only said he had concerns because they -meaning his family, sometimes use the N word, he would have a chance of defending his words. But once he said "I'm not going to lose everything.....because some f*****g n****r tells......" I knew he was done. Not only that, but it lets us all know he doesn't accept his son's girlfriend. There are those who will say Blacks use the word all the time. This is true, but how can we tell a group of people what they can and can't call themselves? If a group of lesbians want to call each other "Lesbo" that is their right.

True enough. The one place I heard the N word used the most was at an inner-city, community computer center I used to work at. Some of the black kids *constantly* referred to each other as the N word. The hip-hop culture abuses the word as well. Dog screwed himself on this one. It's sad and indefensible -- at least from what I've heard about the story.

If he did it would be thrown out of court. Dog is a stupid racist who is getting what he deserves. He was stupid enough to leave that racist rant on a tape recorded message on his son's answering machine, which is considered the son's personal property. His son had every right to SELL THE TAPE TO WHOMEVER HE PLEASED. He decided to sell out the Dog for $15k. That should buy him enough crack to last him a week or so. Bought sense is the best sense in the world, he paid for it with his career.

I hope dog learned that there's no such thing as a closet racist and what you do in the dark always comes to the light.
