'Socialist Agenda' in the Obama Administration Part of GOP Ideals Too

COMMENTARY | Many people at Tea Party rallies talk about speaking against the "socialist agenda" supposedly prevalent in the Obama administration, according to the Washington Post. The entire federal government is a monument to socialism when you consider the taxpayer dollars and the programs they fund.

The Alabama Tea Party Express has an entire blog entry on July 29, 2010, about "The Case for Impeachment: Obama's Socialist Agenda Must Be Stopped." As late as Nov. 6, the organization Big Bear Tea Party Patriots was "mobilizing voters to foil Obama's socialist agenda."

A definition of socialism in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods."I

f Tea Party faithful are to follow that definition literally, many goods and services will have to be taken away from them, as well as all Americans. And some of this redistribution of American wealth has happened with mainstream GOP candidates.

That Social Security pension which everyone's payroll taxes are funding would be wiped out. For many older Tea Party Americans, their free Medicare health benefits would also be taken away. Hard-earned tax dollars are being redistributed to pay for health care for those who can't afford it. Social Security has been around since 1935, and the elderly seem to like to be able to retire at 65.

Those fancy highways upon which we travel? Forget it. If Americans should keep more of their tax dollars, then far be it from each state to maintain the roads we travel on with our fancy gas-guzzling cars. Make gas cheaper by eliminating taxes on gas, and we won't have safe roads to travel upon.

The Department of Homeland Security, which uses our taxpayer dollars to keep airports, border crossings and seaports safe since 9/11, should be completely de-funded. After all, our taxpayer dollars pay for salaries and equipment for those who can afford to fly.

Even the salaries of those in Congress should be slashed. All 535 members of Congress each made $174,000 in 2009, and they had to hire staffers as well. Perhaps Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and any other Tea Party members of Congress should decry the socialist agenda and literally get rid of their salaries which has been redistributed to them.

Two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, started by the GOP-led Bush administration, have redistributed American wealth to Middle Eastern countries. Security companies, construction companies and citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan have reaped the benefits supplied by the American taxpayer.

Foreign aid to other countries, such as Israel and some in Africa, have been the benefit of George W. Bush and supposed socialism. In 2003, Bush pledged $15 billion to combat AIDS in Africa. Even more American taxpayer dollars being distributed to others.

The Conservapedia even states socialism is a "redistribution of wealth, [which] stresses the privileges of the many over the rights of the few, but in practice...a new Upper Class appears which is much better off than the Lower Class."

When many jobs and growth is overseas, that is exactly what is happening in America at this moment.

What's worse is that basic capitalism, not socialism, is currently keeping the American economy from hiring more people in this country. A recent report by the Associated Press states that while the stock market is climbing, it is because of overseas markets in China and India growing faster than those in the United States. Those companies are taking money Americans invest with them by buying their products and taking them to hire overseas workers--that's socialism taken to a capitalist art form.

Race, fear, race, fear, race, fear............

What dribble. Not the slightest thought as the feds maybe, just maybe, growing and spending a weeee bit much for the comfort zone of many. Not one mention concerning the Constitution.
