Actually Turkey was pretty enjoyable in the 1970s. Istanbul was pretty hilarious (each house was painted every color imaginable-meaning you had yellow, green, red, purple, brown, orange, etc. all on one house lit by multicolored neon lights.) But once you start getting east of the metro areas, there are some beautiful beaches and then you go through the Toros Mountains (winding roads with no guard rails) trying to avoid donkey carts you get into some beautiful country. Antioch (Antakya) where I stayed for a week, was pretty neat, except you did need a steel stomach for the powerful Turkish tea, and the occasional bug crawling out off your plate.
Turkey has now become a favorite place for Russians, and even resort personnel are required to learn a little elementary Russian. I am sure it has changed a lot since when I was there.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
