Yeah like that's going to make us safer right? The only ones who will then have guns will be the criminals, since they don't care about "laws".

And this guy would not be affected whatsoever by such a law. He was never diagnosed with a mental illness, even though after the fact he may be found to have a serious one. Those of us with no such issues should not be hindered from our second amendment rights because of the evil actions of those like Loughner. My own mother was murdered, shot 6 times by an evil lunatic. That was in 1972. Things haven't changed; people still murder people with guns. If my mom would have had a gun with her that day, or if any of the people in the shop with her had a gun and could have used it in defense of her maybe things would have turned out differently.
