LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- He's pleaded guilty to murder and will spend the rest of his life behind bars, but former Kentucky lawmaker Steve Nunn will get to keep his state pension.

Tuesday, Nunn pleaded guilty to murdering his former fiance Amanda Ross in 2009.

According to state law, a lawmaker convicted of a felony only loses his pension if his crime relates to his legislative duties. Nunn wasn't a lawmaker when Ross was killed.

Nunn will still be able to draw over $20,000 a year in retirement income as he serves a life sentence in prison.
