Dear ,

Your involvement in the American Medical Association’s Patients Action Network has helped generate unprecedented attention in the drastic Medicare physician payment cuts scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1, 2007. Check out what these news organizations recently had to say:

The Hartford Courant demands "Congress must override the scheduled decrease in… rates."
"[M]ore and more physicians each year are ceasing to accept Medicare," cautions the San Louis Obispo Tribune in California .
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch warns "such cuts could hurt medical access for seniors."
And the Buffalo News notes that any cuts "will make finding a doctor difficult for thousands of area residents."
Thelma, Congress returns to work in September and a solution to this problem must be on their agenda. They need to hear from you. Urge them to take action to stop the mandated 5 percent cut this year and replace Medicare’s flawed payment formula with one that reflects increases in physician costs.
