The thought tsars in the Democrat Party have been using their initiatives to change America for fifty years. In their zeal to retake the White House last year, they accused the Republicans of waging a War on Women. I contend that the Democrats are the ones waging wars in this country in order to reshape it to their view. They have not only reshaped our culture and morals, but are attacking families and churches.
Statists want to make our choices and decisions for us, which requires they be everywhere at great fiscal cost and loss of personal freedom. It is much easier and inexpensive to properly educate children and let citizens make their own choices to suit their needs and means. However, it would entail far less government.
In order to maintain racial balances in under-performing schools, parental choice is being thwarted by the Justice Department waging a War on Education. This war is also being waged by the Department of Education which is promoting the controversial Common Core program for schools. Thirdly, instead of improving student performance, money spent on education finds its way into Democrats reelection funds through teachers union dues. The harm that these are doing to children’s lives and our society is immeasurable.
The War on Poverty has been a failure that has resulted in increasing the number of families living in poverty. This program rewarded the wrong behaviors and thus increased them. The “knockout game” is the result of decades of ignoring reality, while tolerating and promoting envy, hatred and revenge among certain groups. Teaching responsibility, respect, and self-discipline would have been more productive for all.
Being good autocrats, Democrats would like to ban guns. Citizens have guns, subjects do not. The War on Self-Defense in a sharply divided country, disarms the opposition and increases the potential for criminal violence.
Counter to the War on Women, is the War on Life. In this one area of life, there is choice. Ironically, it is the right to choose abortion.
What two adults do in the privacy of their home, that does not harm one-another, is their business. However, by setting aside the Defense of Marriage Act, the Democrat thought tsars are waging a War on Marriage. At its heart, marriage is the “union” of a man and a woman that can result in the creation of new life. On June 26, 2013, the President said, “We are a people who declared that we are all created equal, and the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.” By reducing it to love between two for one another, he has defined a broader set of relationships that include marriage without assigning a new word to it. Students have been known to love their teachers, and boys love their dogs, but neither is a marriage. Along with this, there is a War on Families as adoption by same-sex couples is altering this foundation of civilization. Healthy childhood development requires the presence of both a male and a female parent.
The left is waging a War on Christianity. Christians are not allowed to pray in public nor display crosses or nativity scenes in public places. Other religions are legally exempt from our laws due to conflicts with their principles. In school programs, other religions are given preferential treatment. The phrase “separation of church and state” has been selectively employed in this area.

By promoting the legalization of millions people who break laws when they come here, and offering them preferential treatment over citizens of this country, Democrats are waging a War on Citizens. Rewarding illegal behaviors will result in disrespect for the rule of law. Making them eligible to vote is waging a War on Voters. Such a move will undo all the good that voter IDs did to ensure vote dilution is kept to a minimum.
When someone criticizes the administration, instead of discussing the issues, the Democrats attack the messenger. You are labelled “racist” if you criticize this administration. If Hillary were President, you would be labelled “sexist” instead. The War on Thought is waged by labeling the messenger negatively without ever acknowledging or addressing the ideas expressed.
With the shutdown of coal-fired power plants over the technology used to reduce harmful emissions, this administration is waging a War on Coal, or more generically a War on Energy. Expensive green energy initiatives, like ethanol, wind farms, and solar power generating, each have harmful environmental impacts that are being ignored.
Taxing the rich, or claiming “you didn’t build that” is the War on the American Spirit. This encompasses prosperity, success and achievement. The country would do much better to focus on creating opportunities and prosperity, rather than selling sacrifice through equality.
Congress made a knee-jerk rule about the kind of light bulbs we can use. A politically-connected manufacturer wanted to make more profit on light bulbs. The result was a law restricting the kind of light bulbs sold in this country and forcing people to buy more-expensive lights made in China. This is the War on Choice. It has been extended to food choices too. However, the government will be providing us healthcare, and they will use it as an excuse to continue dictating how we take care of ourselves. It’s like having a slave-owner who wants you healthy so you can work for him at the lowest cost.
The War on Healthcare is in the headlines for the failure of its website. Also, there is much more in this legislation to destroy the quality and accessibility of the healthcare we were comfortable with. It will be replaced with rigid, bureaucratic, government-regulated care. The reality of this will be in the headlines soon.
With the embarrassing rollout of the healthcare website, it has become obvious to many that the government has been waging a War on Truth. They will spin a story to great lengths to avoid telling the truth to the American people. It was Abe Lincoln that said, “You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” And Harry Truman is famous for the sign on his desk, “The buck stops here!” This President will be remembered for, “If you like your current insurance plan, you can keep it. Period.”
These wars have divided us by race, gender, sexual-orientation, religion, wealth, and more. Instead of improving America, they have weakened it. Inspiring leadership unites a country toward a worthy goal that improves citizens lives.
