Tea Party Nation leaders lash out
By KENNETH P. VOGEL | 1/30/10 5:25 PM EST
The organizers of next month’s embattled National Tea Party Convention on Saturday lashed out at everyone from former sponsors and allies to the convention’s financial backers to House Democrats to Rep. Ron Paul’s political group, suggesting all have tried to sabotage the event.
As first reported by POLITICO, the convention came under fire from former supporters and conservative leaders for its high ticket prices, top-down structure and selling of sponsorships for as much as $50,000, as well as the for-profit status of the company running it, Tea Party Nation. Thecompany shelled out $100,000 to pay Sarah Palin’s speaking fee, while its president Judson Phillips planned to turn a profit from the convention, which he said he intended to use to seed a so-called 527 group.
As sponsors and top speakers have withdrawn and the event has struggled to sell tickets – at $350 a pop – to Palin’s keynote speech, former allies and prominent conservatives have accused Phillips of trying to use the convention to turn a buck or vault him into a leadership role in the decentralized tea party movement. Yet Phillips and his wife and co-organizer Sherry Phillips have largely left these criticisms unanswered until now.
But in an email to members of Tea Party Nation, the social network run by the company putting on the convention, Sherry Phillips launched a blistering attack against her perceived foes, and defended her motivations and her husband’s.

Is this the going rate for "Patriots" to stand up for America?

So, that tells you right then and there that Sarah Palin is not a Patriot. No Patriot of this country would lie about another candidate, let alone another woman, least of all another Republican, to get herself more national media attention to sell some more books, and cost the Republican Party a desperately needed seat in the US Congress our party has held since 1870. We already have quite enough self-centered, egotistical liars, cheaters and thieves in DC without supporting another one from Alaska dreaming to be President of the United States, when she can't even make a rational decision on an endorsement for Congress in a district she can't even vote in.
Furthermore, to charge these Americans $100,000 to hear one of her stupid half-illiterate speeches knowing full well many of these people attending that convention are the same people who have lost jobs, don't have health insurance, and are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and the lights on when Sarah is making millions off the book these same people scrapped money together to buy is an absolute disgrace.
If Hollywood wants to pay her $100,000 to hear her, fine. They've got it and can throw money like that around to Bill Clinton and Corporate America can throw some GW's way, but not the people of the Tea Party Movement. The Tea Party Movement are the Americans who have already been lied to, betrayed and robbed in more ways than we have time to list here. They are already the victims of a political system that knifed them in the back with one hand while the other stole their wallets, jobs, wages, homes, retirement, savings, neighborhoods, future, government and country.
The Sarah Palin of Today is not the Sarah Palin of Wasilla. Stick a fork in her, she's done, and move on. The Tea Party Movement is so important to our country, so run the money-chasers out and keep on trucking. This same in-fighting happens in all walks of life, it is to be expected, so do not let it discourage you. It happens in churches, clubs, organizations, PTA, Little League, unions, work-places, business ... everywhere ... so it's just part of the bumps and hurdles all successful efforts have to ride or jump over as they move their cause on down the road to victory.
