Texas: Pakistani Muslim Karim Kamdar shoots wife, two kids, turns gun on himself

In Ft. Bend, Texas a gruesome murder/suicide occurred on Monday. On Wednesday, the autopsy reports came back showing that Pakistani Muslim Karim Kamdar murdered his wife, and then turned the gun on himself. In a remarkable turn of events, Mr. Kamdar shot his two children, but both survived. While the mainstream media white washes the story with headline "Husband shot wife, children" it does help to know that the Kamdar family were Pakistani Muslims belonging to the Ismaili/Aghakhans community. What transpired within the family is not known or what set Mr. Kamdar on a path to try to kill his entire family is also unknown. But what is certainly possible is that this was an honor killing. What transpired in the Kamdar household is a tragedy, and what transpired in the home prior to this incident remains to be seen.

But what is known is that on Monday, Pakistani Muslim Karim Kamdar had murder on his mind.

A husband and wife killed in a Texas shooting in which their two children were injured have been identified.
Authorities have ruled the deaths of Karim and Nikhat Kamdar as a murder-suicide.

Early on Monday morning, the Fort Bend Sheriff's Office says an emergency call was made by the family's daughter
Deputies say they arrived to find the couple's 15-year-old daughter, in the front yard of the house with a gunshot wound.
Her 11-year-old brother had also been shot.

There is every possibility that this was not the first outburst of domestic violence in the household. There is every reason to suspect that something was terribly wrong between Mr. Kamdar and his wife. Both children survived the brutal assault. They were both airlifted to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston for emergency surgery, but both of their parents were already dead when emergency dispatchers arrived at the scene.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute and remains under investigation.

For nearly 12 years, Karim Kamdar rented and operated the Superway Food store in Richmond, however a year ago, he was forced to pack up and leave.

Mrs. Kamdar owned a day care called American Heritage Academy and Child Care in Rosenberg, according to friends.

He was the previous owner here and he used to come for his haircut. Nice guy. He didn’t seem like he had any issues. They were renting here and the owner of this building put his own convenient store that’s why they had to move,” said Adriana Torres, the victim’s former hairstylist.

The sect the family was a part of is described as: " The Shia Ismaili Muslims are a community of ethnically and culturally diverse peoples living in over 25 countries around the world, united in their allegiance to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan (known to the Ismailis as Mawlana Hazar Imam) as the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader), and direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). This is the official website of the Ismaili Muslim community."

On various internet threads, the mention of their sect set off a firestorm, with one message reading,"A Pakistani couple belonging to Ismaili/Aghakhans coomunity shot dead in Houston, Texas why it is necessary to mention their sect? is there any relevancy?"

The mainstream media will not release this information because to them it is not relevant. Nor will the press even mention their Islamic ties in general, unless it is offhand. Nor will the possibility of an honor killing be mentioned. Honor killings mostly involve women, as women are killed for bringing shame to their families. Domestic violence is more often than not carried out by the husband or male partner. Robert Spencer writes that "most of them had occurred in response to alleged extramarital relations."

What happened in the case of Pakistani Muslim Kamim Kamdar is not known, but as with every other case, any mention of Islam and all that pertains to it will be scrubbed.

The family have released statement: This is a time of profound grief and sorrow for our family. No words can express the pain and loss we feel.
Our grief and pain is compounded by the unknown circumstances that have led to this tragic event. We would like to thank our neighbors and friends for their concern and support, and the law enforcement officials for their efforts to investigate the circumstances leading to this tragic event.

We would also like to thank the press for respecting our need for privacy and allowing us to bereave our beloved family member’s death with dignity.'

This is truly a tragedy in every way. What happened in that household might not ever be made public. If it is, it will surely be watered down to fit that "image" of Islam in America that the media and politicians have fashioned. Anything less is unacceptable.
