When he returns home with a Contract and Advance for his next book, he announces that he's leaving home to move to NYC where he can meetup with famous authors and move forward in his writing career.
Cannot tell you how sad I feel about John Boy leaving home.
This is a major moment in the long drama and feeling so empathic for all children who have left home and the sadness their close families must have felt.
