    Florida Save Our Homes Lawsuit

I was listening to NPR the other day and learned that there is a lawsuit pending in Florida which was brought by a Florida resident against the state charging that Save Our Homes (the statute that caps annual property tax increases for homesteaded homes at 3 percent per year) is discriminatory against new Florida homeowners. According to NPR, a judge is reviewing the case. If the judge does strike down Save Our Homes, many Fl residents will be affected (both positively and negatively depending upon when you bought in FL).

I realize a judge struck down the property tax ballot initiative that was to be on January's ballot; however, this is a different lawsuit, and I don't hear any major Florida newspapers or news shows reporting on this. Has anyone else heard much of this?

I heard about this on the local talk radio in Naples.. basically they are saying this works fine when property prices are going up... but in the down market that Florida is going through the taxes should go down and the tax is fixed to the down side only... it can fluctuate but only to the up side

Charlie Crist is still campaigning hard for amendment 1 to be on the Jan. 29th vote ballot.

I am truely confused at this point as to which way I should vote although I do like the SOH tax portability.

Between home owners insurance and property tax many Floridians are being forced out of their homes.
