KENWOOD, Calif. —
More than 27,000 marijuana plants worth an estimated $47 million have been destroyed after narcotics agents discovered the pot growing in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

Sonoma County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Bertoli says the grow operation was uncovered by aerial surveillance by the county Narcotics Task Force and Napa Special Investigations Bureau.

The pot plants were 18-inches to 2-feet tall and carried a street value of $1,750 per plant.

Bertoli says investigators uncovered evidence of a campsite where several people had been living near the pot grow operation.

Narcotics agents also discovered 7,000 plants growing on Mount St. Helena.
