Among the subsidized apartments threatened by Trump’s government shutdown and owned by the Kushner Companies, and Westminster Management, which is owned by Jared Kushner, they include the “income based” Morningside Park Apartments for seniors, at 9950 Guilford, in Jessup, Maryland!

Many Section 8 voucher tenants (Housing Choice Voucher Tenants) are afraid that the Section 8 landlords will evict them if Trump’s partial government shutdown continues, if our nation’s Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) fail to make payments to the Section 8 landlords in March.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) lacks the funding to cover the Section 8 voucher program(Housing Choice Voucher Program) in March, if Trump's government shutdown lasts beyond February 28.

Earlier today in the Whitehouse, just try to imagine Jared Kushner, the son in law of President Donald J. Trump, husband of Ivanka Trump, on his knees begging Trump to end the government shutdown because the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is running out of funds in March to provide subsidized housing assistance to many of HUD’s subsidized housing programs.

True or not, this may be one of the many bizarre scenarios happening behind the scene in the White House that no one is reporting about.

Reportedly, it turns out that Jared Kushner’s property companies, including the Kushner Companies, and Westminster Management Company, owns many rental properties subsidized by HUD. They own many properties with Section 8 voucher tenants (Housing Choice Voucher tenants) in their properties. Kushner Companies, and Westminster Management Company are companies owned by Jared Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump, and the son in law of President Donald J. Trump. Jared Kushner is also an advisor to the Trump administration.

Among the subsidized apartments threatened by Trump’s government shutdown and owned by the Kushner Companies, and Westminster Management, which is owned by Jared Kushner, they include the “income based” Morningside Park Apartments for seniors, at 9950 Guilford, in Jessup, Maryland. Morningside Park Apartments is managed by Edgewood Management Corporation.

Reportedly according to the Baltimore Sun, other HUD assisted subsidized apartments in Maryland owned by the Kushner Companies, Westminster Management and Jared Kushner, include the Pleasantview Apartments in North Baltimore, the Highland Village Townhomes in Lansdowne, Maryland, and the Carriage Hill Apartments in Randallstown, Maryland.

Reportedly, in Maryland regarding the Section 8 tenant voucher holders (Housing Choice Voucher holders) in Kushner-owned buildings, with Section 8 vouchers that are subsidizing Kushner’s properties, “the vouchers have helped 268 tenants pay rent at the Kushner properties, finance records show. The apartments rented for an average of nearly $950 per month.”

The Maryland Attorney General has reportedly been investigating Kushner-owned properties.

Additionally, a class action lawsuit has been filed against Westminster Management LLC, owned by Jared Kushner.

According to their website, “Westminster owns and manages over 20,000 garden apartments in five states, including New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Economies of scale are employed to reduce operating costs and benchmark performance ratings are applied across the portfolio to maintain quality and cost efficiencies using “best in class” systems. Marketing, pricing, resident relations, amenities, maintenance and other management issues are carefully scrutinized to ensure accurate and efficient property operations.”

An August 18, 2017, letter to Kushner Companies from some Representatives of Congress questioned their involvement with the Section 8 voucher program (Housing Choice Voucher Program).

On January 18, the National Housing Law Project (NHLP) sent out a release about the “Rights of Federally-Assisted Residents during the Government Shutdown,” that really helps to explain in detail what the rights are for tenants in HUD’s subsidized housing programs during Trump’s government shutdown, and who to contact if problems arise.

Additionally, there are probably a lot of Section 8 tenants (Housing Choice Voucher tenants) across the country that do not know that the Section 8 landlords cannot evict them if a Public Housing Authority (PHA) fails to make the housing assistance payment (HAP) to a landlord on time. According to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), “The PHA failure to pay the housing assistance payment to the owner is not a violation of the lease between the tenant and the owner. During the term of the lease the owner may not terminate the tenancy of the family for nonpayment of the PHA housing assistance payment.”

HUD is expected to run out of funding in March for many of its subsidized housing programs that will negatively affect the interests of Jared Kushner, and his property companies if the government shutdown continues beyond February 28. Perhaps it’s time for Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to immediately put the squeeze on the orange haired crazy man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C., to end the government shutdown that has been harming millions of people across the nation.
