Two defendants accept plea deal in Bundy case

LAS VEGAS - Two defendants facing another trial for their roles in an armed standoff in Bunkerville, Nevada more than three years go have accepted a plea deal to avoid a second trial.

Eric Parker and Scott Drexler pleaded guilty to obstruction of court order which is a misdemeanor charge. The maximum sentence in one year.

Both men have been locked up for around 18 months while awaiting trial and will likely get credit for their time served.

Both men, from Idaho, drove to Bunkerville in April of 2013 after cattle rancher Cliven Bundy and his family put out a call for help.

The Bureau of Land Mangement seized Bundy's cattle which was illegally grazing on federal land. There was a standoff against federal officers who were outnumbered by protestors, some of who were armed.

The men were acquitted of most of the charges they originally faced, but a jury could reach a unanimous decision on the other charges in two earlier trials.

Their sentencing is scheduled for Feb 28.

A trial against a group including Cliven Bundy and his sons is expected to start Monday Oct. 30.
