Two men are dead after a car crash in High Point Sunday.
Police said Javier Garcia, 25, and his passenger, Miguel Sandora, 22, were killed instantly when the vehicle they were traveling in crossed the middle turn lane and slammed into a truck.
Police said excessive speed caused the accident. Garcia was traveling eastbound on Westchester when a car reportedly pulled in front of him, forcing him to swerve. Garcia's then lost control of his vehicle and crossed into on-coming traffic.
He was traveling 65 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. The driver of the truck who was traveling on eastbound Westchester was treated at High Point Regional Hospital and released.

Wreck kills two on Westchester Drive

HIGH POINT – Two people died Sunday when their car collided with a delivery truck on Westchester Drive.
The collision happened about 9 p.m. just south of Phillips Avenue.
A Chevrolet Camaro was traveling north when it veered across the road and collided with a truck heading south, High Point police Lt. Jeff Blank said. “We’ve got several witnesses. One wom*an saw the vehicle (Camaro) cross the center lane.” The Party Rental Source truck collid*ed with the driver’s side of the Camaro, crushing it. The impact also smashed the truck’s windshield.
The car’s driver and male front-seat passenger were dead when firefighters arrived minutes later. The two died “probably instantly,” Blank said.
The delivery truck driver was taken to High Point Regional Hospital to be treat*ed for minor injuries and possible bro*ken legs, Blank said.
The car and truck had no other pas*sengers, police say. The Camaro came to rest across the
outside southbound lane on the west side of Westchester. The front of the car was per*pendicular to the northbound lanes and visible to a crowd gathering across from the crash off the east side of the s t reet .
Firefighters draped a yellow tarp over the passenger’s side of the windshield. A young Latino man sobbed loudly as two men tried to comfort him. The man collapsed onto the curb, his companions beside him.
The crowd swelled to 75 or so within 45 minutes of the collision.
Firefighters positioned trucks and other fire vehicles in a half-circle around the crash site. Traffic investiga*tors will try to determine why the Camaro veered across the road, Blank said.
