Two men were shot and wounded during separate robbery and carjacking attempts Thursday night in Juárez, Chihuahua state police said.
Armando Meraz Hernandez was hospitalized after being shot in the upper right chest when he refused the demands of two robbers who confronted him at 7 p.m. Thursday at a gas station at the intersection of Carlos Amaya and Cartagena streets, state police said.

In the second incident, Saul Enriquez Montez drove himself to a hospital about a block away with a gunshot to the jaw that he received when he resisted as two men tried to take his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Henequen and Durango streets in Zaragoza, state police said.

Authorities on Friday also announced that Pablo Rodriguez Marquez, 35, died at a hospital on Thursday evening after being shot on Cobre and Manuel Acuña streets in colonia Gregorio M. SolÃ*s. There have been more than 555 homicides in the Juárez area this year.
