They confiscated 11 pounds of crystal meth (known as Ice on the streets), nine pounds of cocaine, a handgun and $100,000.

Three suspects, Alejandro Solis, Sophia Venegas and Fredris Benitez, are in jail facing federal drug charges.

"Crystal meth is a fairly new phenomenon," Austin Organized Crime Commander Sean Mannix said during a Friday news conference. "We started seeing it here in Austin in the 90s and then especially between 2000 and 2002."

The bust comes just days after Chief of Police Art Acevedo said he wants more for a new helicopter to better battle the drug trafficking.
