CORPUS CHRISTI — Police have identified the woman found dead early Sunday as 29-year-old Devon Herrero of Corpus Christi, the sister of state Rep. Abel Herrero. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Police were called at 3:42 a.m. Sunday to the 3400 block of Bluebonnet Drive after a passerby saw her in the roadway, Lt. Isaac Valencia said.

Devon Herrero suffered injuries, including blunt-force trauma to the head, but the cause of death is still under investigation pending autopsy results, Valencia said.

Police have canvassed the area and are following leads, but would not elaborate.
