Fisker Automotive inks deal to distribute electric cars in China

Irvine-based Fisker Automotive has struck a deal with China’s biggest passenger car trader to sell its electric vehicles overseas.

China Grand Auto and Fisker formalized the non-exclusive agreement in a ceremony Wednesday in Shanghai and next year will begin selling Fisker’s first car, the nearly $90,000 Karma extended range luxury vehicle, seen above.

China Grand Auto has a network of more than 200 retail stores across China and carries 40 brands, including luxury ones like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Lamborghini.

Fisker CEO and namesake Henrik Fisker said China’s growth makes it a prime spot to sell vehicles.
