    Shutting down the port of entry doesn't keep the illegals from crossing, it keeps the people who cross legally from crossing. People with passports and visa. The illegals cross where there is no port of entry. That is what makes it illegal.
    Closing the port of entry keeps American citizens from returning home or leaving the country.

    One month would make a difference. Put the military on the border for that month. And get the fencing to code to keep people from crossing illegally.
