CHAPEL HILL For as long as anyone can remember, Christmas trees adorned with lights and ornaments have greeted holiday season visitors to UNC Chapel Hill's two main libraries.
Not this year.
The trees, which have stood in the lobby areas of Wilson and Davis libraries each December, were kept in storage this year at the behest of Sarah Michalak, the associate provost for university libraries.
Michalak's decision followed several years of queries and complaints from library employees and patrons bothered by the Christian display, Michalak said this week.
Michalak said that banishing the Christmas displays was not an easy decision but that she asked around to library colleagues at Duke, N.C. State and elsewhere and found no other one where Christmas trees were displayed.
Aside from the fact that a UNC Chapel Hill library is a public facility, Michalak said, libraries are places where information from all corners of the world and all belief systems is offered without judgment. Displaying one particular religion's symbols is antithetical to that philosophy, she said.

I saw we make all the employees at that library work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day then. If they do not want to observe the Holiday, then fine... DONT OBSERVE THE HOLIDAY.
Put em to work!

YES, They aren't decorating at all? Shame, Shame. Some of the students may not even get a gift all year and the school can't add any happy spirit. Please, give me a break. The colleges have more money than anyone in the country.
Let's bring more foreigners into our Country who hate us and our ways. Or do we have some very greedy people?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Let's celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with our families and friends and GET OUT OF THE STORES and then let's see HOW FAST they want to PUT CHRISTMAS BACK INTO EVERYTHING again!!
(Heard this suggestion in church last week and I love it)
They don't like Christmas? FINE, let's stay OUT OF THE STORES

I think it's discriminatory. It's a major holiday for most Americans (90%) and other displays can be put up for other religious cultural holidays.
It's just another step into stomping on Christianity. Anti-Christians we should call them.
The progressive secularists, atheists and any other haters of Christianity fill the halls of major institutions. They want the country to renounce Christianity and become atheists. I was thinking the same thing, CCUSA. Talk about discrimination!
It seems that if it's discriminatory against Americans in general, or Christians in general......it's okay!!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
