Wildcards for this Dark Winter event include:
- New needs for power that we haven't had before like crypto mining, electric cars in use
- Great power needs by Washington DC due to upcoming Inauguration transition of government requiring full hands on deck (DC is a power Priority location)
- VERY low Arctic temps NOT seen in the Lower 48 driving the need for power to great levels
- No automatic de-icing tech in place on solar farms OR wind farms = potential cause for failure
- Failure of power generation coupled with greater need for power = potential grid down scenario
- Grid down scenario in the winter with multiple Arctic storm waves = DARK WINTER possibility
- Length of event is greater than a couple of days
- Event to come in waves = longer length of event
- Previous government lack of response to a disaster such as we saw in Western North Carolina with Hurricane Helene = possible future lack of response to a DARK WINTER event
