    Letter to John Kerry

I copied this letter from a blog. It could be tweak and used again to send to all of your elected officials. I think more needs to be added on the radiation safety. There is no safe dose of radiation. If the American people do not stop this intrusion, then we will have no rights left to fight the growing police state.

    Senator John Kerry,
    1 Bowdoin Sq # 1000

    Dear Senator John Kerry,

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has implemented the installation of whole body imaging (WBI) scanners. These are the devices that have the ability to "look" through clothing and "see" if there is anything concealed under the clothing. When the machines were introduced, we were told they would not be used for primary screening. However, they are now being installed on the front lines of airport security queues nationwide. It's apparent through your continued silence that our Congressional representatives support what is being done in the name of increased security. I urge you to reconsider your support.

I have several concerns. First, there is no good information on the radiation exposure or the safety testing of the technology. I have researched whether these machines pose a risk and I can find little except the testimony of the DHS. Unfortunately, it appears the committee that examined the scanners and has assured the public of their safety is comprised chiefly of these machines’ manufacturers

Second, the machines present a rather detailed image of the nude body to an off site observer. I am a very modest and conservative person and I have an objection to this process for myself and my family. Its degrading and unconstitutional. This virtual strip search should not be done just because law-abiding Americans want to get on a plane. More and more people are currently being violated by the TSA and it needs to stop.

Additionally, the public has been assured these machines do not save images of naked Americans accused of no crimes, but tens of thousands of images were saved in courthouses in Florida and Washington back in August.

Finally, what dismays me the most is that although an individual has the right to ‘opt out’ of the WBI scanners or if there are problems found on the image, they can have a “pat downâ€

    Congressman Waxman of Los Angeles

Thank you for this post. I am gathering signatures next week, to start a west hollywood, ca tea party and gave democrat congressman waxman a heads up friday that I not only want him to over ride the los angeles boycott of arizona for my neighborhood, pass a law to require all business owners in my area to use e-verify but that if he doesnt pull these machines from the L.A. airport, I would get a group that could run a republican and vote him oit of office. all of this helps alot
