The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking a man who sexually assaulted an elderly female resident of Sterling early this morning.

This case could be related to a series of prowler and burglary cases that took place earlier this year in Ashburn and Leesburg.

Around midnight Thursday, the suspect entered a residence on Ironwood Road by forcing entry through a door. The suspect then confronted the resident. The suspect brandished a knife, sexually assaulted the victim and fled from the house.

The victim contacted authorities at approximately 12:27 a.m. Deputies established a perimeter in the area, conducting a ground search with a canine unit and an aerial search with the Fairfax County Police helicopter. Authorities did not locate the suspect.

The victim was treated and released from INOVA Fairfax Hospital this morning for minor injuries. The suspect is described as a large male who spoke with an accent.
The agency encourages residents to report any suspicious activity or people to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at 703-777-1021.

The agency also reminds residents to lock all doors and windows. If you have information on any of these cases, you are asked to contact the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.

If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Loudoun County Crime Solvers. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, callers could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
