Video: Man Goes Ballistic on Police After They Shoot His Dog On His Private Property

Imagine the despair you would feel if you came home to find your beloved pet dead, with multiple gunshot wounds. That’s exactly what happened to this man, who says a Salt Lake City police officer broke into his home and killed his dog.

Our friends at TheBlaze say police stated they were looking for a missing child and that the officer shot the dog only after it showed signs of aggression. During the feisty confrontation with the dog’s owner, they seem concerned about the incident and promise to look into it.

This situation – and the many like it that occur each year – is undoubtedly tragic for the pet owners affected by it and is, most likely, not always necessary. On the other hand, if you have what appears to be a vicious dog lunging at you, it’s understandable that you would feel threatened and consider shooting.

The bigger question is whether the officer had a right to step onto the man’s property and wield his weapon in the first place. What do you think? Do police have too much power, and do they use that power responsibly?
