Clinton is in a dead heat with Obama

LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- With the Democratic caucus polls locked in a three- way tie, Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is in Iowa to campaign for Hillary Clinton, doing some last-minute shoe-leather work for the New York senator in advance of next week's caucuses, Clinton's press office said.

A poll released Sunday shows Clinton in a statistical dead heat with fellow Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards. Political reporters are casting the Thursday night decisions as the least-predictable in recent U.S. history.

The mayor met with Democratic activists at a social center in Muscatine in the morning. His schedule for the day includes a stop at the Mexico Antigua Restaurant and the local "Hillary Field Office" in Marshalltown, a small farming town 50 miles northeast of Des Moines.
Later Sunday night, he will stump for the candidate in the university city of Ames.

Monday, the L.A. mayor will campaign in Des Moines, the state capital.

The mayor can count on snowy skies and a high temperature of 27 degrees as he goes door-to-door Sunday in the corn belt.
