Violent Christmas Eve in D.C. Ends With 6 Shootings, Including 2 Deaths

D.C. police investigated six shootings on Christmas Eve, including two police-involved incidents.

Police shot and killed a suspected robber Wednesday afternoon and later shot a man driving a carjacked FedEx truck. In both cases, D.C. police officials said the alleged suspects first opened fire on officers, who then fired back.


Around 5:30 p.m., a woman was shot at 14th and Randolph streets NW outside the Sabor Latino Bar and Grill in Columbia Heights. She was hospitalized and later pronounced dead.

The suspect in that shooting is a Hispanic man wearing a red shirt with white pants.

D.C. police say officers' lives were put in danger twice Christmas Eve, when suspects opened fire at them. News4's Chris Gordon reports. (Published Wednesday, Dec 24, 2014)


Police reported another shooting just after 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Stevens Road SE in Barry Farm. The victim was found unconscious and homicide detectives have been notified. No suspect information has been released.


A fifth shooting was reported just before 10 p.m. in the 2600 block of Sherman Avenue NW in Columbia Heights. A man was found with gunshot wounds and homicide detectives have been notified. D.C. police tweeted the suspect wore a black jacket, black pants and a black mask.

The sixth shooting was reported in the 800 block of Bladensburg Road NE near Trinidad. A man with gunshot wounds was found there, and homicide detectives were notified.
